As a user experience designer at Kensho, you will articulate the future direction of Kenshos products. In your role you will be setting the bar for the next generation of analytics tools facilitating faster decision making in finance, defense, and beyond. Working closely with our end-users, product management, and engineering, you will be responsible for bringing simplicity, intuitiveness, and beauty to complex data-rich applications. The ideal candidate has a world-class portfolio with a demonstrated ability to successfully address user needs in a complex problem domain.

What Youll Do:

  • Plan and conduct research to inform design and engineering work
  • Define high-level application architecture and user journeys
  • Iterate on and validate conceptual mocks from sketch through to interactive prototype
  • Collaborate with engineering to preserve design intent throughout implementation
  • Establish and maintain usability and visual standards and best practices

What We Look For:

  • Candidates should have deep expertise in at least one of these areas with strength and confidence in at least two others.

UX Architecture

  • Expertise in translating user needs into conceptual designs
  • Strength in articulating user journeys and application architecture
  • Extensive knowledge of UI paradigms and the ability to apply or adapt the best one to any particular problem
  • Understanding of usability heuristics and the ability to appropriately balance the trade-offs between competing considerations

Visual Design

  • Exceptional visual design skills that keenly express brand
  • Effortless communication of information hierarchy especially in data-dense interfaces or graphics
  • Systematic, modular approach to visual design (design frameworks and standards)
  • Expertise in leveraging visual and motion design to guide users attention through an interactive experience

User Research

  • Proven track record of planning and executing research and usability tests that delivered demonstrable value
  • Expansive knowledge of research methodologies and when best to employ them
  • Demonstrated ability to consolidate research findings and identify opportunities for intervention

Data Visualization Design

  • Encyclopedic knowledge of visualization idioms and their perceptual tradeoffs
  • Proficiency in a set of technologies to rapidly prototype interactive visualizations (e.g. Node, React and D3)
  • Creativity in transforming data to generate meaningful insight
