Are you looking to make a real difference in peoples lives?

Here at iRobot, we deliver innovative robots that span a wide spectrum of duties. We are constantly striving to find better ways to free up people from home chores, and we are having fun while doing so.

We are seeking a talented, motivated and highly experienced EMC/RF Engineer to join our Electrical Engineering Department as our E3 (Electromagnetic Environment Effects) and radio pre-compliance expert.

In this role you will be guiding the product design team during all phases of development on best practices to mitigate E3.

You will provide critical feedback during both schematic design and PCB layout design and participate in design reviews for each. At the hardware level you will work side by side with the designers in our pre-compliance RF Lab to ensure our products can pass various compliance regulations.

You will work with our RF/Antenna designers to measure and optimize antenna performance. In short, you will be the E3 lead taking ownership of more than providing RF chamber results by actively engaging with our development programs to design in effective E3 countermeasures up front.

You must have extensive knowledge and experience in electrical circuit design with emphasis on parasitic behaviors. In addition, the candidate must be very familiar with common compliance test standards and test methods. This position requires superior communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Manage, configure and maintain in-house RF chambers and equipment
  • Setup and measure EMI/EMC/ESD/Radio performance
  • Work with the design team to diagnose any issues encountered down to the root cause, providing technical analysis where required
  • Recommend and test proposed solutions with the design team for incorporation into next revision
  • Provide input on E3 best-practices at product schematic and layout design reviews

  • Strong knowledge and experience in a wide range of circuit design:

(1- AC/DC, 2- DC/DC, LDO regulators - Digital circuits, microprocessors, high-speed busses Analog circuits - 3- Motor control circuits - 4- Antenna theory)

  • Thorough understanding of RF Lab test equipment operations and limitations
  • Strong understanding of circuit parasitics and how they affect circuit behavior
  • Strong aptitude in understanding, evaluating and debugging E3 related issues
  • Ability to modify test setups and methods to accommodate incomplete systems, or prototypes requiring external cabling not normally part of the system
  • Interpret test results based on non-standard test conditions
  • Identify root causes of any issues encountered
  • Provide technical analysis as necessary
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong people-skills
