Our Opportunity:

Chewy is hiring a Director of Mobile Engineering in our Boston or Florida office to take ownership of our mobile initiatives and lead these two teams. As a Director of Mobile development, you will be focused on building a strong team that aligns with mobile product development strategies in a modern tech stack for iOS and Android. Chewy's Mobile Engineering team continues to enhance the mobile app platform that is used by millions of customers around the US.

This is a hands on role that will require a split between laying down vision in partnership with product management, people leadership, strategy, execution that will lead to making our apps the best on respective app stores. This individual will help shape the future of our mobile products across both iOS and Android. Our ideal candidate will have experience building and leading mobile engineering teams across multiple platforms, as well as best practices of the mobile ecosystem. An expert developer, who still loves hands on coding if the need arises and a strategic guide, providing technical expertise for decisions in Infrastructure, IoT, Data Processing, Security, Application Architecture and Quality Assurance.

What you'll do:

  • Responsible for releases of features into our app platforms
  • Partner with Recruiting to drive key hiring, which includes the ability to identify and close top talent
  • Be plugged into the local mobile development community and garner excitement about our products and opportunities
  • Work with product management and design to define the mobile product roadmap
  • Guide decisions on architecture, system design, and technical strategy, including server APIs
  • Help cultivate and maintain a positive and upbeat culture that brings out the best in people

What you'll need:

  • Significant track record leading high-performing mobile engineers and teams
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality mobile applications at massive scale, on schedule
  • Demonstrated ability to hire, mentor, and retain top talent
  • Expert level understanding of mobile software development and architecture, with deep hands-on experience
  • Inspirational leadership and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Position may require travel
