Our Carbon Black Response Linux Endpoint team is looking for an automation engineer who will help implement and maintain an easy to use framework that will encompass parallel streams of automation, end-to-end functionality as well as non-functional cases. Automation is central to our quality strategy as we continue to deepen and expand our product.




We are looking for an automation engineer who can work in a highly agile environment on our Response Linux Endpoint team to drive automation initiatives and produce quality software to customers. You will be working on CI/CD pipelines, and automated build, test, and deployment infrastructure.  You'll not only get to experience owning, leading, and guiding an engineering effort to support this mission, but you'll also benefit from a highly supportive, cooperative team using the latest in cloud and security technology.


What You'll Do

  • Design, build and continuously improve an automation architecture that is modular and extensible to support a product that runs on a variety of Linux distributions (RedHat, CentOS, SUSE, etc.)

  • Participate in root-cause analysis of customer issues to improve test coverage

  • Develop system and component test plans, automated test suites, performance tests, and supporting libraries

  • Identify and remediate gaps in current automated tests, reducing technical debt.

  • Work with Release Engineering to further integrate automation into the build system, striving for frictionless deployments

  • Work across teams to improve quality and visibility into shared projects

  • Assist in expanding the role of automated QA within the Engineering organization

  • Be a major contributor to your scrum team's automation effort and participate in engineering-wide planning to reduce cross-team dependencies

  • Work with developers on improving the system quality (during design and implementation phases)


What You'll Bring

  • 2+ years of development experience, including object-oriented Python programming writing automation tests

  • Experience with Virtualization technologies such as VMWare, Docker, Vagrant

  • Experience with Continuous Integration practices and tools such as Jenkins and GitLab CI

  • Desire to translate high-value workflows into automated tests.

  • Understanding of Linux OS concepts

  • Experience with test development and automation for system-level and mission-critical software, preferably on Linux platforms


Nice to have

  • Experience with C/C++ programming is a plus

  • Experience with Security Software
