Duties: Consult with internal customers on their requirements by documenting, sharing updates, and solving production issues within application management systems. Analyze a request to determine recommend and plan installation of a new system or modification of an existing system. Use configuration tools such as Puppet, Salt, Pepper, etc. for configuring platforms such as Aerospike, Cassandra, Hive, Hadoop, Spark, Storm and/or Kafka. Build specs as well as systems test plans and get them approved by stakeholders. Coordinate installation of our system with stakeholders across the company. Build, install, upgrade, or migrate petabyte size systems. Update Project Tracker with the time spent on each project and update status. Monitor functioning of systems to ensure they operate at their peak performance at all times. Mentor junior members on the team. Advise internal customers/stakeholders about, or perform maintenance of systems. Drive best practices around platform deployments and usage. Troubleshoot and root cause issues in our complex multi-tiered production systems.

Requirements: Requires a Bachelors degree (or foreign equivalent) in Engineering, Computer Science, or a directly related field plus one (1) year of experience with messaging and big data technologies as well as NoSQL databases including Cassandra, Aerospike, or similar databases.

Experience must include one (1) year in each of the following (experience may be gained concurrently):

  • Operating Systems: Linux and Windows
  • Configuration management: Puppet, Salt, or Ansible
  • Messaging: Kafka
  • BigData: Hadoop ecosystem
