Do you want to work on Alexa, the voice activated digital assistant powering Amazon Echo, Dot, Show and Fire TV? Are you a software engineer who dreams of building solutions that combine the latest technology in applied machine learning and distributed Cloud services? The Alexa AI Natural Understanding team works on the core server-side components for Alexa’s Natural Understanding (NU) modules. We are looking for a talented, detail-oriented and self-motivated Software Engineer who is passionate about new technologies to join the team. You will be working alongside top notch machine learning, computer vision scientists and engineers building complex new capabilities for Alexa. Our systems need to meet remarkably high standards of quality, performance and reliability, operating around the clock on a massive scale. As a member of the team, you will be responsible for leading the development and launch of core product features. You will deliver key machine learning and compute vision solutions into production, while inventing and building algorithms from the ground up. You will have significant influence on the overall strategy by helping define these product features, drive the system architecture, and spearhead the best practices that enable a quality product to delight Alexa customers.
 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
· Knowledge in Computer Vision or Machine Learning domain
· 4+ years of industry experience
· Experience with Java, C++ (or other high-level programming languages)
· Experience building scalable infrastructure software or distributed systems
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Proven track record of delivering large-scale machine learning, computer vision, speech and/or language understanding applications, or leading successful research projects in one or more of these fields
· Experience developing cloud software services and an understanding for scalability, performance, and reliability
· Demonstrated leadership abilities in driving operational excellence and best practices
· Experience with R, MATLAB, Python (or similar scripting language)
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
