As a Platform Team Senior Engineer you will leverage AWS and cloud computing, Java, Python and other tools to enhance Cogitos technology for the common data store, platform tools, authorization services, and the user management system. We are seeking a senior software engineer who loves learning, is experienced and fluent in backend programming in Java or Python, is excited about cloud computing and is able to drive projects forward and yield results. Your determination, skill and enthusiasm will make an impact on the success of Cogito.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop software on a Scrum team for platform systems, including all phases of design, coding, and testing
  • Utilize AWS technologies to solve business problems
  • Work with the software and product development teams to maintain a prioritized engineering backlog. Plan, estimate, and deliver on-time according to agreed-upon estimates
  • Interact and collaborate with colleagues in engineering, operations, product development, and sales to deliver world-class products and services to clients

Requirements:

  • Bachelor or advanced degree in engineering, computer science, or another relevant field
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience with Java or Python
  • Experience with a cloud applications platform, preferably AWS
  • Experience with REST interfaces
  • Solid experience with SQL databases such as MySql and Postgres
  • Ability and willingness to learn new tools and technologies
  • Solid knowledge and experience with version control and release management

Skills:

  • Fluency with Java / Python
  • Experience/understanding of AWS and public cloud ecosystems
  • Experience/exposure to SQL/NoSQL
  • Technical diagramming and communication of software architecture and design
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologiesFluency with Unix / Linux operating system and development environment
  • Fluency with revision control, including distributed revision control and Git in particular
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
