As our Database Administrator at SimpliSafe, you will partner across teams in Engineering to help design and improve schemas, infrastructure, and monitoring solutions for our data stores. Lead development and support of the current data stores as well as help craft new ones through automation. You will be a local data store expert to help build things right the first time as well as help prioritize tech debt and improvements.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Schema design and review to create and improve tables, facilitate business needs, and increase performance
- Database host configuration and resource tuning to meet needs throughout the year
- Infrastructure design and maintenance, improving and building on existing clusters
- Develop thorough monitoring and alerting solutions which keep teams informed
- Provide support and expertise for debugging query and performance issues across teams
- Develop and maintain granular data store SLOs pertinent to each application
You should have/be:
- Significant (5+ years) experience with Mariadb/MySQL in a large scale, highly available, enterprise environment
- AWS
- Terraform, Ansible
- ProxySQL, Orchestrator
- Implementing Schema management process
- Debugging query performance, making suggestions to improve DB schema
- Proactive, pragmatic, multi-threaded problem solver
- Humble, calm, always-learning mindset
- Experience speaking for/with the customer with a determined smile
