As a Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer, you will work in a dynamic IT organization supporting Enterprise Data Services and administration of our Business Intelligence (BI) tools and Data Analytics platforms. Working closely with your business stakeholders, you will help to define, design and deliver business critical analytics and operational reporting. You will be part of a team of Tableau reporting experts, creating scalable, intuitive and high-quality data visualization dashboards in an iterative manner as part of agile projects. Reporting to the Data Operations Manager, you will help define and support iRobots Enterprise Reporting function and expand its capabilities to service a growing and diverse business user community.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, develop, test, deploy and support business intelligence (BI) solutions and reporting tools to support a wide range of data-driven initiatives at iRobot including sales and forecast trends, marketing campaign impact, finance KPIs and operations metrics
  • Develop rich data visualizations (interactive graphs, charts, spatial visualization using heat maps, viz animations, dynamic parameters) that answer complex business questions; handle large datasets and deliver high performing Tableau dashboards
  • Troubleshoot data inconsistencies and test reporting solutions from back to front end; review/ QA datasets for accuracy and completeness across data sources
  • Leverage architecture principles to design and build Tableau data sources for each subject area to align with the companys strategic vision for self-service BI
  • Engineer end to end automated solutions for proactively monitoring and sending email notification with status of scheduled Tableau production server extracts
  • Analyze, develop and establish a system of Tableau metadata dictionary for data sources, attributes, report definitions and business use cases for long-term operational sustainability
  • Proactively meet with users to deliver formal and ad hoc Tableau training, data training, elicit new business-driven requirements and influence business process improvements.
  • Actively participate in enterprise data operations forums and discussions as the analytics and reporting SME, making recommendations for infrastructure, Tableau server architecture and security design
  • Create project related stories in Jira with clear and detailed acceptance criteria, business requirements, and dependencies
  • Monitor, and respond to reporting requests captured through Jira Kanban boards, Slack, IT service desk and other user community interfaces
  • Create and maintain robust documentation of new and existing BI solutions on Confluence
  • Work closely with senior architects and IT team members to support all lifecycle phases of analytics solutions from design through production support, working on multiple BI platforms, including Tableau, with components spanning Windows, Linux, Mobile (IOS/Android), multiple datastores, integration technologies(SnapLogic), and future emerging techniques to drive results


  • Education: BS/BA in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent


  • At least 5 years of BI development experience, including at least 3 years developing BI reporting and dashboards using Tableau and that were integrated with an enterprise data warehouse.
  • Strong conceptual knowledge and understanding of information technologies and methodologies, software development processes, project management techniques, and IT operational disciplines of run and maintain
  • Demonstrated understanding of Oracle eBusiness Suite R12 Financials and Supply Chain modules
  • Strong Supply Chain, Sales Operations, Logistics, Accounting, and FP&A business support skills including forecast, demand planning, month end close processes
  • Expert-level understanding of Tableau Server, Tableau Desktop, Tableau Prep, reporting objects like Facts, Hierarchies, Attributes, Calculated fields, Filters, Parameters etc., dashboard development, related security and administration/architecture
  • Conceptual knowledge of RDBMS Oracle Data Warehouse data models, SQL and PLSQL queries, views and stored procedures to support Reporting and Analytics projects
  • Experience with designing, implementing, and supporting ETL processes for data cleansing, data auditing, and data profiling
  • Self-starter who can define their work, manage multiple priorities, leverage critical thinking and attention to detail in all aspects of work product design and delivery
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills; proficiency in O365, MS Visio and PowerPoint tools to aid communications and understanding
  • Ability to work collaboratively across the organization: interpret user requirements, identify the root cause, research possible solutions, identify most feasible solutions
  • Must be able to work creatively, calmly, flexibly and under tight deadlines in order to respond quickly and positively to shifting/multiple demands and opportunities
  • Self-motivated, able to inspire users, work independently as well as with others in a matrix environment
  • Up to 10% international travel
