Wayfair: Senior Analyst, Carrier Strategy

The Carrier Strategy and Management team is looking to add a Senior Analyst to their group! This person will leverage a creative approach and quantitative skills to answer strategy questions that impact our North American Transportation operations. A proven, analytic problem solver who is passionate about customer experience and is comfortable operating in a dynamic, high-growth environment.

Who we are: The Carrier Strategy and Management team is primarily focused on the Wayfair Delivery Network (WDN) Wayfairs custom supply chain that connects suppliers to our customers. The goal is to create a fast, reliable, cost-effective supply chain that not only impresses customers through speed to delivery, but also creates a competitive cost position that is prohibitive for new entrants. The team contributes to this through a rigorous approach, combining data-driven analytics with cross-functional collaboration. Success is defined by delivery on clear metrics, enabling continual improvement in providing the fastest, most transparent, reliable, and exception free delivery experience in the industry.

What you will do:

  • Translate high-level business problems into more specific questions which can then be answered by data-driven analysis
  • Partner with various business stakeholders to identify key factors and requirements for each project, and get buy-in for project methodology
  • Develop a model to estimate the impact of a specific recommendation while controlling for factors that may introduce noise into the analysis
  • Present data with a clear point of view so that insights can be used to help drive business strategy
  • Leverage internal and external sources to innovate and drive change and consistency in our operations
  • Drive cross-functional alignment on customer and operational priorities
  • Travel anticipated 10% of time to our facilities across North America
  • Conduct big data analysis using SQL, R, Python and other software applications

Who you are:

  • You have 1-4 years of experience in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
  • You have a degree in Supply Chain, Statistics, Economics, Physics or other concentrations with heavy quantitative focus preferred
  • Analytical, creative, and innovative approach to solving problems; experienced with data analytics and model development
  • Experience presenting business cases to senior leadership
  • Passionate about solving complex business problems
  • Possess an affinity for data and resourcefulness in obtaining data when clean and or complete information is not available
  • Possess strong written and verbal cross-functional communication skills
  • Positive, people-oriented, and enthusiastic
  • Experience working in an operational environment to drive business / customer outcomes (e.g. drive growth, improve productivity, streamline operations, maximize customer excellence)
  • Technical experience using SQL, R, Python, or other languages preferred
