Bowery Farming is hiring a Product Innovation Manager who will take a leadership role in driving profitable growth through product development (i.e., produce sold to retailers) and portfolio optimization that will support Bowery’s entry into new markets and retailers. The Product Innovation Manager will support projects ranging from core product development and lifecycle management to breakthrough innovation. A strong candidate will be about to own projects and workstreams from end-to-end, and will be equally comfortable working with numbers and people. The Product Innovation Manager will be expected to use data and analytics (both syndicated and scrappy) to drive insights and identify market opportunities that align with our brand, work cross-functionally to vet and prioritize these, and bring our vision to life. He or she will also have experience working directly with both marketing and sales teams as she/he will be a close collaborator with both functions.

What you’ll do at Bowery
  • PRODUCT STRATEGY & ROADMAPPING:
    • Support team in determining ideation needs, lead brainstorming sessions, and develop concepts that are vetted internally (finance, ops, agriculture science) and externally (consumers, customers)
    • Be actively involved in business development opportunities that may drive research priorities and/or focus on new/existing products
  • PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT & PACKAGING INNOVATION:
    • Lead packaging design for new products and manage agencies and freelancers through packaging designs and updates
    • Lead internal cross-functional teams to drive projects forward (e.g. update to our packaging structure)
    • Manage new products through the product development stage-gate process and ensure strong cross-functional alignment at each step
    • Identify areas of improvement in growing, processing, and handling and ensure that our product development efforts support the company's overall strategy and goals
    • Act as an expert in regards to all product-related issues and communicate updates to the broader team as necessary
  • SALES & BUSINESS ANALYTICS:
    • Analyze Nielsen/IRI/SPINS/Shipment data and bring stories to life through sales decks
    • Support the development of sales materials (e.g. sales decks)
  • CONSUMER RESEARCH & INSIGHTS:
    • Gather and prioritize customer/consumer needs and distill through down into requirements to guide the product vision
 
What You Have
  • BA or equivalent experience required; MBA a plus
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in product, project, brand or category management (ideally at a large CPG company), including successful track record of hands-on management from concept through launch. B2C experience strongly preferred. Additional experience in working at a startup or fast-paced product company a plus
  • Creative problem solver who thrives in ambiguity and has the ability to effectively collaborate, communicate and influence in a highly cross-functional environment
  • Advanced analytical skills (excel, tableau, google sheets) and demonstrated understanding of market data including IRI, SPINS, Mintel, Consumer Quant/Qual. Data,
  • Ability to work independently and be self-directed, yet be accustomed to working in cross-functional team environment 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage stakeholders at all levels and across all functions
  • Excellent project management and organization skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Strong understanding of consumer needs and ability to translate these into product requirements; experience conducting consumer research a plus
