Markforged is growing at a furious rate and we are looking for highly motivated engineers with system mindsets and a passion for customer issues to join the Print System Engineering team. Print System Engineering is a unique team within the Engineering department with a mission to bring a customer mindset to the detailed technical work being done on a daily basis. We are looking for self-starters who are interested in system level product challenges and who enjoy cross-departmental thinking and problem solving. Qualified candidates for this role will find themselves working at the intersection of engineering, operations engineering, operations, product, and customer support teams; extraordinary communication skills are a must. Ideal candidates will exhibit exceptional system thinking and troubleshooting skills, combined with solid fundamental technical skills that demonstrate an understanding of mechanical, electrical, and software engineering.
What will you own?
- Have a direct impact on improving our products and customer experience
- Be a champion of customer-centric thinking in day-to-day product development and sustaining activities
- Represent design for serviceability in product development and sustaining activities
- Collaborate with customer support to create and improve documentation for both internal troubleshooting use and for customer-facing resolution of issues
- Act as an internal escalation path for customer support to solve tricky customer issues
- Work collaboratively with different teams to solve system issues
- Work with operations engineering to implement solutions at the assembly and production stages of existing products
- Diagnose and root cause returned warranty parts to expose trends and solve customer issues
- Create test methods and fixtures to determine the root cause of issues, perform the testing, and propose solutions
- Design, prototype, and release solutions to existing products, including introducing spare part items for customer use
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

What you have:
- Bachelors degree in engineering plus 2+ years of related experience (we have multiple positions open at various levels - apply!)
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in an extremely fast-paced engineering environment
- Hands-on experience working with and debugging systems that involve various mechanical, electrical, and software components
- A hands-on approach to solving problems

- Understanding of and personal experience with various manufacturing methods

- Familiarity with 3D CAD (Fusion360, SolidWorks, Onshape, etc.)
- Ability to work independently and be self-directed
- Great interpersonal skills and ability to work with technical and operational teams
