The opportunity

Report directly to the CFO and advance your career at a company where people and innovation are at the core of everything we do. As Payroll Director, you will manage the 5-person team that oversee payroll for 2,000+ employees in more than a dozen EF locations throughout the US. Core opportunities and responsibilities include the direction, management and coordination of payroll processing, time and attendance management, financial controls and reporting over payroll as well as various other employee related matters. Youll work in close collaboration with the leadership of the Finance, Benefits and Human Resources teams.

The Details

- Oversees and administers all payroll functions for our US offices and schools
- Responsible for the tracking and reconciliation of employee deductions and earnings including, but not limited to, deductions for employee benefits, retirement contributions, federal state and local taxes, and earnings for base salaries, bonuses, and advances (and the recoupment thereof)
- Ensures accurate reporting to taxing authorities of taxable wages, including both cash and non-cash items such as taxable use of company property, fringe benefits, gifts and other reimbursements that may be taxable
- Should possess advanced skills in ADP (preferred) or similar payroll/HRMS system
- Assists employees and others as needed with payroll-related issues
- Directs the computation of pay in accordance with company guidelines and applicable state and federal wage laws, reviewing and approving all payroll deductions, reviewing and validating all payrolls and ensuring all necessary corrections are made
- Strategically creates efficiencies in the processes that touch every stage of our employment life cycle, including onboarding, promotions, office and company transfers and terminations
- Assists with various internal and external financial and tax audits including but not limited to workers compensation, department of labor and other audits as needed

- Ensures that payroll practices are compliant with state and federal employment laws

- Bachelors degree (B.A. or B.S.) or equivalent with eight to ten years related payroll experience in a multi-jurisdictional environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience
