The New England Venture Capital Association (NEVCA) seeks an entrepreneurial, detail-oriented, passionate leader to assume the role of Manager, Platform & Community.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Working closely with the NEVCA President and the Director, Strategy & Development, the Manager, Platform and Community is responsible for the full spectrum success of NEVCA efforts to convene and promote: developing strategies that capitalize on our strengths, driving brand awareness regionally and nationally, conceptualizing and executing value-creating events, and enabling partnerships that advance the NEVCA’s core pillars. The position reports to the Director, Strategy & Development.

MARKETING

  • Develop marketing strategies for NEVCA events, including but not limited to the annual NEVY Awards, Unpitch TECH, BIO, and HEALTH, VC Briefings, Syndicate Sessions, and ad hoc events

  • Create a strategic marketing plan for the NEVCA, focusing on building brand awareness

  • Develop KPIs and methods for quantitatively tracking marketing effectiveness

  • Lead and ensure effective execution of all marketing strategies

  • Develop social media strategy for NEVCA and own its execution

  • Collaborate with NEVCA member firms, sponsors, and community stakeholders to create engaging events

  • Lead development of NEVCA digital content, including newsletters, event recaps, and issue-specific campaigns

  • Research and deliver annual Impact Report highlighting ecosystem wins 

  • Ensure NEVCA website properties are up-to-date and utilized to the best and highest standard

EVENTS

  • Lead development and execution - concept creation, budget, and promotion, and day-of logistics - for all NEVCA events, including but not limited to the annual NEVY Awards, Unpitch TECH, BIO, and HEALTH, VC Briefings, Syndicate Sessions, and ad hoc events

  • Collaborate with NEVCA members, sponsors, and community stakeholders to support to existing ecosystem events (including vertical-specific weeks such as Boston FinTech Week, WEBOS Week, etc)

  • Collaborate with external creative teams to develop all event collateral, including promotional assets and post-event recaps

  • Aid in the conception of events for NEVCA member firms, sponsors, and community members as needed

  • Create and execute unique promotion schedule and strategy for each event

HIRING

  • Oversee hiring for open NEVCA roles, including: 

    • Posting and maintaining job descriptions 

    • Managing inbound candidate applications 

    • Conducting initial candidate screening

MANAGEMENT & LEADERSHIP

  • Oversee the hiring and management of Platform Co-op, including any necessary evolution of the role

  • Collaborate with NEVCA and Hack.Diversity teams to identify opportunities for marketing partnerships, collaborations, and content dissemination

  • Work with key players across the ecosystem to evangelize NEVCA

  • Communicate strategies and growth metrics to Board of Directors during quarterly meetings and as needed

BRAND STRATEGY

  • Lead relationship with outsourced public relations consultants to  drive media opportunities for NEVCA

  • Establish 2-year marketing strategy for NEVCA

  • Develop strategies to improve Boston’s regional and national brand

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-5 years of professional experience in marketing, event planning / production, community and/or program development, non-profit management, or business consulting

  • Highly organized, self-motivated and able to multitask

  • Strong project management skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and story-telling skills

  • Budget management and financial analytics experience

  • Creative and strategic thinker

  • Superior oral and written communication skills

COMPENSATION

  • $50K - 60K base salary commensurate with experience; eligible for significant performance bonus

  • 20 vacation days, 18 paid Holidays
