Wayfair is looking for an experienced leader to own our e-mail marketing channel across Wayfair.com, Wayfair CA and our Lifestyle brands. As the GM of Email Marketing you will be driving the strategy behind the program responsible for ~20% of Wayfair visits. In addition to driving traffic to the site, youll also help drive customer loyalty and retention, maximizing the value of our customer base.

At the core of this role we try to answer what is the right message to serve to every customer given all the data we know about them to get them to visit Wayfair and go on to connect? What is the optimal mix of frequency, timing, and content in our emails to engage our customer? How can we inform a technical roadmap and strategy to ensure were serving the right message at the right time to our customers?

The GM of Email Marketing will lead a team of ~25 designing, launching, and iterating on our e-mail marketing campaigns. This role will develop a deep understanding on who our customer is, what she wants, and how to get her attention. You will dive into our customer psyche and get our customers to visit and purchase more frequently. Working closely with data scientists, engineers, business intelligence analysts, creative, ad tech systems, promotions and brand, you will innovate and enhance our playbook for e-mail marketing and maximize the value of our massive e-mail list.

Given the strategic nature of this role, qualified candidates must have strong quantitative and analytical skills. This role is a high profile e-commerce entry point for top-tier consultants, investment bankers, product managers or for an experienced marketing professional looking for a new challenge within an already rapidly growing business. Responsibilities:

  • Define KPIs for e-mail marketing campaigns and establish stretch goals for 3-6-12 month time windows
  • Define, pilot, and rapidly iterate initiatives, with an understanding and strategic view on all internal/external factors and influences
  • Partner with and leverage internal teams to help drive agenda and implementation
  • Closely monitor campaign performance and react to deviations from plan quickly
  • Relentlessly drive growth through innovative strategies and meticulous execution to drive step change improvements in performance
  • Institute rigorous test-and-learn methodology to achieve desired results
  • Develop talent within the organization, mentoring/developing team
  • Own the e-mail calendar and creative testing roadmap (including imagery, subject lines, etc.)
  • Ensure we have an amazing portfolio of content to keep our customers engaged every day
  • Design new templates and campaigns for customers at specific points in the customer funnel: onboarding, in-market, post-order, and lapsed
  • Develop proprietary algorithms to choose the optimal content to serve to customers

Qualifications:

  • Track record of success driving significant results
  • Experienced Consultant, Product Manager, or Marketer looking to make the move to Internet commerce leader; or experienced GM or eCommerce leader
  • Ability to communicate effectively to senior and executive management; exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills that can be tailored to internal partners
  • Seasoned in managing timelines, delivery, dependencies, communication across teams
  • Analytically comfortable building a strategy and story using large data sets
  • Ability to think and perform both tactically and strategically
  • Able to pivot readily and react to real-time data
  • Ability to think and perform both tactically and strategically
  • Comfortable in a data-driven business environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills including experience managing high performing teams
  • Positive, people-oriented, and energetic attitude
  • Familiarity with Excel, SQL, and Test and Learn practices a plus
  • BA with strong academic record (strong preference for quantitative backgrounds: mathematics, economics, etc.) Top MBA preferred
