Director Software Engineering, Consulting Services

Applause is seeking a Consulting Services Director to help build a consulting practice and work with our strategic customers to address their product development quality challenges using Applause products and services while adopting quality engineering best practices.

At Applause, we are hiring consulting experts with a background in performing assessments, building out methodologies and polished deliverables to lead a variety of customer focused engagements including workshops, assessments and advisory offerings that include practices, processes and standards guidance in the software quality engineering domain. This role will specialize in assessments and advisory work for engineering and testing organizations in multiple industry domain.

Responsibilities Include

Provide expertise on software quality methodologies and best practices.

Lead a team of consultants and manage a collective portfolio of consulting and professional services

Lead teams to help identify and understand the opportunities for quality improvements in key customers and market verticals, such as media and entertainment, financial services and healthcare.

Scope and lead on-site engagements. This includes leading pre-sales on-site visits, understanding customer requirements, and proposing and delivering packaged offerings or custom solution engagements.

Responsible for developing content and building frameworks, procedures and deliverables such as Process and Delivery frameworks and Reporting dashboards that can be used by our customers to assist them in improving their digital experience quality and deploying Applause solutions.

Develop high impact deliverables that may include roadmaps, strategic guidance, gap assessments, etc.

Work with other teams within Applause to drive customer success.

Collaborate with Applause practices teams to convey customer feedback as input to Applause services roadmaps.

This is a customer facing role. You will be required to travel to client locations and deliver professional services when needed

Manage a portfolio of complex client relationships.

Defining milestones for success in conjunction with the client and internal teams.

Makes a visible effort to become a subject matter expert and builds trust with aligned clients.

Basic Qualifications

10+ years of experience in a SW quality leading role

8+ years of consulting experience

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (preferred), Business or equivalent experience required

Experience in agile development environments working closely with scrum teams developers and product owners

Experience with multiple testing domains such as functional, test automation, performance, user experience, etc

Experience working in a DevOps environments utilizing CICD pipeline

Demonstrated experience in data collection, measurements and reporting techniques

Shift left and built-in-quality mindset

Preferred Qualifications

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and an executive presence - comfortable talking with VP of Dev/Quality, CIOs, CTOs about software quality issues.

Experience in strategy development, setting direction for team members, influencing both internally and externally.

Candidate possesses software development or software quality relevant certifications

Ability to provide both technical and business leadership across an organization.

Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations and virtual teams

Experience assessing quality gaps in development organizations

Demonstrated breadth of quality engineering expertise in various sub domains such as test automation, quality improvements, etc.

Hands-on technical expertise in technology automation, implementation, integration, and/or deployment

Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges

Experience with risk assessment methodologies and risk reporting for executive leadership

Proven background in clearly writing and presenting documents across a varied enterprise corporate audience
