As The Director, Software Engineering You Will:

Technical Management Responsibilities:

  • Partner closely with Product Management and other business stakeholders to develop and then execute on roadmaps that drive the business forward with a focus on quality.
  • Drive organizational initiatives that support business and customer needs.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the executive team in developing company strategy.
  • Oversee the delivery of products that exceed customers needs and are robust, scalable, easy to maintain and easy to enhance.
  • Partner with peer engineering managers and leads to drive continuous process improvements and innovation
  • Be a subject matter expert, lead the team by example and have a strategic influence.
  • Maintain balance between building high quality products and shipping code fast
  • Involvement in code reviews and unit testing in conjunction with feature delivery

Functional Management Responsibilities

  • Build a high performing, collaborative, and empowered software engineering team with a focus on solving business problems facing customers and the company.
  • Develop an intentional method for developing talent in the engineering organization.
  • Ensure the engineering team has the resources and capacity to meet the companys ambitious goals.
  • Mentor team leads and engineers on technical design, architectural guidance, coding standards, the definition of done, and best practices.

What We Seek:

  • 10+ years overall experience as a hands-on software engineer with 4+ years managing engineering teams
  • Strong management expertise with proven experience developing senior talent.
  • Prior experience developing and executing a technical roadmap that drives tangible business value.
  • Experience with CI/CD processes with a distributed, services-based, cloud-based infrastructure and cloud-based tooling (AWS preferred).
  • Hands on experience with languages like JavaScript, Ruby, Python and Go, frameworks like React, Rails, and AWS Lambda, and database systems like Postgres.
  • Expertise in delivering software products using agile methodologies fostering continuous improvement and a learning organization.
  • Experience managing integrations with external vendors, customers, and partners on a variety of platforms.
  • Proven ability to anticipate risks and blockers and organize work and put plans in place to address those before they become issues.
  • Experience delivering software in a highly regulated industry is a plus.

  • Discussing and assisting with building out product roadmap
  • Work with recruitment on hiring for your team
  • Participate and lead scrum meetings


  • Train and integrate your team into Dispatch and dev processes
  • Ensure the best dev practices are being used
  • Ensure that we are releasing high quality product
  • Participate and contribute in maintenance and new product development


  • Be an expert on Dispatchs product
  • Partner and work cross functionally with other dev teams and the Product team
  • Take full ownership of features and processes of the product
  • Continuously coach and mentor your team to achieve their career goals
  • Continuously think about and work on process improvements for an always high-quality product
