Director of Logging and Monitoring, IaaS

We are looking for a Director of Logging and Monitoring to join our Infrastructure as a Service division. You will be partnering with senior business executives and product leadership to do great things. Ultimately your work will focus on improving Monitoring and loggingperformance across all athenahealth Private and Public Clouds. But enough about us, lets talk about you.

You love managing people and growing teams. You design our Service Monitoring and Logging based on industry standard framework, and guidance and ensure that all cross functional teams are following standards to deliver high availability. You demonstrate partnership with IAAS, Development, Product Management and Customer Facing teams. You are a tenacious, but nimble learner, who demonstrates design, engineering and process excellence.

The Team: Monitoring and Logging team is the central team at athenahealth which is responsible for governing Monitoring and Logging tools of all athenas processes, Improvement Tracking KPIs. The Monitoring and Logging Director is responsible for leading a team of professionals in the areas of monitoring transformation, metrics and reporting.

Typical Responsibilities

  • The Director is responsible for steady state tools and logging production support activities including, audits, collaborates closely with cross functional technologists and business partners to analyze tactical and strategic solutions for logging and monitoring platforms.

  • Uses that information, along with technology strategies to formulate solutions to meet business needs.

  • Provides direction and oversight to sustain teams to design, develop, deploy, and maintain monitoring solutions that meet applicable business requirements.

  • Allocates and directs resources to accomplish tasks and maintains control of tools roadmap.

  • Responsible for resolving issues, aligning with the NOC monitoring, and escalating issues when appropriate.

Typical Qualifications

  • BS and/or 10 + years of equivalent, relevant experience

  • Broad and deep understanding of technical concepts in multiple specialized fields to develop technical solutions with an executive consultative approach

  • Expert knowledge of the industry known monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Assure, Graphite, etc..)

  • Expertise with all aspects of the development life cycle and an exposure to various current software development methodology approaches. Experience in incident management, root cause analysis and resolving production application issues with both short term and long term solutions
