THE ROLE
The Director, Global Mile Logistics & Omnichannel Fulfillment is primarily responsible for
designing and executing cohesive and customized end-to-end global mile and
omnichannel fulfillment strategies to effectively balance speed, cost, complexity, and
flexibility for each different target customer segment (B2B and B2C); product category
and geography.
This position is a key contributor to several critical business processes and requires
cross-functional internal collaboration as well as capability to build external strategic
partnerships to meet current and future organization needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design an integrated and comprehensive Global Mile inbound logistics strategy
based on demand forecasts in close collaboration with all stakeholders to
optimize speed, cost, and reliability - Spearhead the selection and negotiation of cost effective, flexible and scalable
agreements with global/regional end-to integrated supply chain service providers - Design and execute a regional omnichannel distribution and fulfilment strategy for
each channel i.e., e-commerce, DTC, wholesale, retail, etc. to meet each target
customer segment (B2B and B2C) service level expectations and product category
specific requirements - Build an agile and scalable fulfilment and distribution connected network capable
of: - Meeting a variety of customers expectations in terms of speed, cost,
complexity, and flexibility - Capturing value from last mile value-add services (assembly, quality
control, kitting, packaging, etc.) at the distribution nodes
Enabling an efficient and cost-effective reverse logistics and returns
process - Define and build inhouse and/or outsourced supply chain capabilities to execute
global mile logistics & omnichannel fulfilment strategies including technology and
systems integrations, freight management, shipments, inventory and
transportation visibility & optimization, harnessing data analytics to drive demand
sensing, distribution flexibility, fulfillment efficiency, performance measurement &
reporting, and continuous improvements - Spearhead the design and operationalization of a cross-functional collaboration
model among internal stakeholders including: Supply Chain, Technology, Brand
Management, Retail, D2C, Marketing, Finance as well as proactive two ways data
flow with key external stakeholders - Build, develop and scale a capable global team through an effective distributed
leadership style to drive high employee engagement - Keep abreast of Global Mile Logistics & Omnichannel Fulfillment market trends to
continuously drive innovation through rapid experimentation and change
management
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE PARTY
- Bachelors degree in supply chain, logistics, engineering, economics, or a
quantitative discipline - 10 years progressive global experience in global mile logistics operations and
omnichannel fulfillment involving E-commerce, Retail, Wholesale, Direct to
Consumer, B2B/B2C - A proven track record of building comprehensive modern global mile logistics
operations and omnichannel distribution fulfillment networks & supply chain
capabilities including last mile value added services and reverse logistics across
North America, Asia and Europe - 3 years in a leadership role within a global structured e-commerce or retail
organization - Established relationships with reputable global providers within the global mile
logistics and omnichannel fulfillment industry - Practical level knowledge of systems and platforms including WMS/TMS/ERP
systems, EDI/API integrations, demand/inventory/transportation data flows,
visibility, optimization, and analytics - Outstanding communication and organizational skills
- Advanced quantitative, problem-solving and people management skills
- Passion for excellence, thrives in fast paced environments and exceptionally
poised under pressure.
