Director, Engineering (Infrastructure/Site Reliability Engineering)
Director, Engineering (Infrastructure/Site Reliability Engineering) for Wayfair LLC in Boston, MA to manage a team of highly skilled site reliability engineers who are responsible for maintaining out large-scale physical and virtual server environment which supports Wayfair’s e-commerce platform. Provide leadership to engineering teams who maintain and enhance site uptime, scalability, and performance. Mentor team members in troubleshooting application issues. Drive excellence in reliability through development of aggressive SLAs, efficient processes, and engineering reliability. Lead efforts in build and configure automation and deployment. Ensure reliability of the infrastructure web-stack through the application layer. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Leadership, Information Systems or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus seven (7) years of experience leading large scale enterprise wide productions and scaling projects or, alternatively, a Master's degree and four (4) years of experience as noted above. Two years of experience must include: performing system level performance tuning and performing version control using GIT and SVN; managing day-to-day technical operations for large scale hybrid Cloud customer facing platforms; employing engineering and optimization best practices regarding front-end web standards, code maintainability, page rendering, and browser performance; performing Devops function for a large scale distributed platform including continuous integration and continuous deployment for new features; mentoring and coaching managers and technology teams across multiple location and functions; utilizing Jenkins and Puppet to deploy application code into server environments; interfacing with business product leaders and engineers to gather requirements and developing vision for Site Reliability Engineering; and interfacing with Business teams regarding critical web analytics issues; and running full stack Production applications across Content Delivery Network, Web Servers, Application Systems, Database, and Cache.
