This position will develop and execute public relations, external and internal communications, and corporate affairs initiatives in support of building Zipcar’s brand awareness and delivering Zipcar’s business objectives. The ideal Zipster for this role will be a self-driven, go-getter who is creative and curious. We’re looking for a sharp and self-motivated contributor, ready to roll up his/her sleeves to help the team and the company succeed.

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for assisting in daily communications duties for Zipcar with responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  • Pitching and placing trade and online media coverage; leading trade/industry media relations
  • Developing press materials (e.g., pitches, press releases, fact sheets, newsletter articles, and Q&A documents) and internal communications materials (e.g., emails, intranet updates, messaging toolkits, etc.) ensuring content is accurate and on message
  • Overseeing Zipcar.com Press Site materials (e.g., press releases, developing blog posts)
  • Coordinating press tours and events for media
  • Supporting Zipcar marketing campaigns, new product launches, cause programs, local marketing campaigns, though leadership opportunities, industry/policy communications, and related events
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of strategic communications plans and editorial calendars
  • Media monitoring, measurement, and reporting
  • Supporting proactive and reactive communications to the media
  • Coordinating media mailings
  • Supporting the Co-Op program

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience in communications, public relations and public affairs in an agency and/or in-house corporate setting
  • Experience working directly with journalists and proven ability to secure positive media coverage
  • Outstanding writing skills and proficiency in creating media materials and branded-assets; event planning experience a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and collaboratively across departments and functions; Strong interpersonal skills; a team player, positive and innovative thinker
  • Proven project management skills and strengths in managing multiple projects/deadlines; ability to set priorities, be flexible, and perform under tight deadlines
  • Motivated and a high level of initiative, ability to work independently in support of business objectives.
  • Experience within the transportation or mobility industry and exposure to cities or urban policy a plus
  • Experience with media monitoring and analytics services
  • Flexible with schedule and ability to travel occasionally
  • Must have a passion for Zipcar’s mission
