What we need
We are looking for a System Layout & Structural Design Engineer to join our System Layout & Structural Engineering team. Your focus will be Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives. You will be responsible for validating, designing, and implementing system and process improvements that will drive cost reductions, improve installation efficiency, and address safety and quality concerns.
This opportunity will expose you to a wide variety of engineering teams within our organization as well as the customer’s architects and structural engineers, construction leaders and cutting edge technologies in the warehouse automation and material handling industries, including AI and Machine Learning.
What we do
The System Layout Engineering team is part of the Manufacturing and Supply Chain Organization, which is responsible for developing the customer’s warehouse layout, facilitating supply chain execution, and delivering world-class support to the installation team. The System Layout Engineering team drives warehouse design excellence through the incorporation of internal and external customer feedback with a consistent focus on reducing costs for both material and project execution lead times.
What you’ll do

Utilize Autodesk tools (AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit) to create detailed system layouts and 3D models that reduce variation and ensure repeatable, high-quality installations.

Design and optimize structural and mechanical layouts for automated systems, applying continuous improvement tools such as PFMEAs, standard work development, and process flow mapping.

Drive cross-functional collaboration across mechanical, electrical, software, and installation teams to remove bottlenecks and improve design handoffs.

Partner with architects, facility engineers, and customers to error-proof installation workflows and validate solutions using PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycles.

Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate systemic issues.

Maintain deep knowledge of material handling equipment and leverage data to drive improvements in OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and uptime.
What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in system layout engineering, including work with large-scale steel structures and CI project execution.

Proficiency in Autodesk software with a minimum of 5 years of experience.

Lean Six Sigma certification (preferred) or experience applying DMAIC, A3 problem-solving, or value stream analysis.

Minimum 2 years in the material handling or industrial automation industry (preferred).
Our Environment

Up to 10% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.

The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
