About the Role:
CloudZero is seeking a FinOps practitioner and engineering leader to drive our internal FinOps strategy and lead our CloudOps team. This high-impact, hands-on role is ideal for a player-coach who can own technical outcomes while mentoring two Developer Experience (DX) engineers.

You’ll partner with Engineering and Finance to embed FinOps best practices, improve cloud cost visibility, and drive efficiency using the CloudZero platform. You’ll also help share our story externally through content, events, and product feedback.

This role blends technical execution with thought leadership—perfect for someone passionate about cloud optimization and developer enablement.

What You’ll Do

FinOps Leadership

• Optimize CloudZero’s internal cloud spend and deliver measurable savings using our platform

• Act as a FinOps thought leader—sharing best practices internally and externally

• Speak at conferences, webinars, and community events

• Contribute to FinOps content, including blog posts and public forums

• Collaborate with Finance and Engineering to improve cost reporting and visibility

• Manage cloud vendor contracts and commitments to maximize ROI

Developer Experience & CloudOps

• Lead and coach our DX/CloudOps engineers, setting the strategy and team vision

• Improve developer efficiency through tooling, process, and automation

• Own and communicate the DX roadmap and its impact across engineering

• Advance CloudZero’s deployment, observability, and infrastructure practices

What We’re Looking For

• 2+ years managing high-performing engineering teams.

• Experience in FinOps, DevOps, CloudOps, or Developer Experience roles.

• Deep AWS expertise; experience with other cloud providers is a plus.

• Excellent communication skills—comfortable presenting at events and engaging with diverse audiences.

• A passion for coaching engineers, and a high-agency, impact-driven mindset.
