Can you share a summary on what Reggora does?

Reggora is making the home appraisal process easier and faster for everyone involved. Our modern platform, used by both mortgage lenders and appraisers, leverages advanced technology, automation, and integrations to create unprecedented operational efficiency and reduced appraisal turn-times.

What are some of the different technologies that the engineering team gets to work with and at what scale?

Our goal at Reggora is to change the real estate appraisal space through modern cloud-based technology and seamless integrations with our clients and vendors. Our applications run in an AWS environment leveraging a number of their services such as ECS, SQS, S3, CloudFront and many more. Using monitoring tools like Sentry and DataDog our team is enabled to ensure that we can provide our clients with a reliable, consistent solution. We use a MongoDB database to collect information on every interaction made with our system and to give our clients full visibility into their business processes.

What are some of the interesting projects that the engineering team is tackling?

Our clients need to react to changes in regulation and in the market to make sure their business never misses a beat. In order to facilitate this, we have built an event-based workflow engine that allows our clients to customize their payment, notification, and generalized ordering experience.

In addition to facilitating workflows we give our clients access to their data and help them make informed decisions. We built a PDF scraping application using Rust as well as an XML parsing application in Python to pass all of the appraisal order information back into our clients’ native applications. We can also support custom quality control rules to make sure that the final product coming out of Reggora is of the highest quality.

Does your engineering team have a chance to work on projects outside of their day-to-day responsibilities?  For example - skunk work projects, open source projects?

Most of our engineer’s days are spent working on their team specific projects, but as our team grows we are looking for ways that our team can expand their horizons. One of our favorite events was a community outreach project with a local high school promoting computer science. Reggora engineers led teams of students studying computer science in a hackathon, sharing their experiences and advising them on how to pursue a career as a developer.

What is the culture like at Reggora for the engineering team?

We have an incredible culture of support and collegiality within our engineering team. Whether it’s through daily office hour meetings with a tech lead or a one on one developer conversation, there is always a helping hand to make sure that developers can improve daily and contribute to the team. Our number one emphasis is on collaboration and a joint team effort.

Each one of our team members also brings their own unique flare to the job. We find a way to show who we are whether it’s by posting a cool side project, sharing content, or sharing in our #dogs slack channel. The little moments and simple interactions that happen every day at Reggora make it a truly enjoyable place to work.

What can a potential employee expect during the interview process?

While you interview with Reggora we want to ensure that you will fit into our team’s work ethic and culture. We value people who are able to work well with others and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment. Members of our team are going to be working with you to understand your technical experience and expertise, as well as how well you understand the underlying concepts that make for a successful product. Our goal is to make sure that Reggora is a place that you are excited to work and grow at, and that you are driven to help us change an industry.

Are you involved in any local tech organizations or Meetups?

At the moment, our engineering team is not formally involved in any local tech events, but a number of our engineers are personally involved in the local and open source community. Some of the organizations include Girls Who Code and local React Meet-ups, and they would always be interested in bringing someone who is interested!

Stacy Webb Reggora

Stacy Webb

I grew up in SW Virginia (neither close to D.C. or the beach) however surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. I've been coding professionally for 20+ years and non professionally since I was about 12 (on a Ti99-4/A in assembly). When the opportunity to join Reggora was presented to me, I wondered how I would fit in. My experience varied from Military, DoD, and multiple Federal agencies to Fortune 50 Companies. I decided to take the leap and pursue the opportunity. Of all of my previous employers, none come close to Reggora. They are some to the most talented, creative and welcoming colleagues that I have ever had. The level of respect, consideration and value they show their employees is unmatched. From a developer's aspect, the challenges and freedom to create are what makes Reggora, Reggora. This is the way….

Steve Romm Reggora

Steve Romm, Software Engineer

My background before Reggora was mostly on the business side of things. After studying Business in college, I moved to Beijing, China, where I spent several years working for CBRE, a fortune 500 Real Estate Company. After moving back to the states, I was an Account Manager at Forrester, a tech research company. I had a strong urge to be involved in the creation of tech products, so I decided to enroll in a coding bootcamp, and shortly after that, I landed my first job as a Software Engineer at Reggora. It's been incredible to be part of this team and watch the company grow into what it is today. Outside of work these days, my wife and I spend pretty much all of our free time playing with our lab mix puppy, Milo.

Trisha Aguinaldo Reggora

Trisha Aguinaldo, Software Engineer/Developer

Hi! I'm Trisha Aguinaldo. Art enthusiast, soap artisan, and animal lover. I balance two roles at Reggora as a full stack developer and a lead QA engineer. Three years ago, I fell in love with programming after launching a WordPress website for my artisan soap business (on hiatus due to covid). Since then, I switched careers from healthcare and education to software development. Pre-covid, I liked to attend tech events in Boston and volunteer when I can.
