#BUILTBYGIRLS Build Day @ Walmart: Learn The Art of The Business Pitch
The best learning happens when you get your hands dirty and build something new. We know you’ve got big ideas that will change the world, but how do you prove your idea’s worth to someone?
Join us for our first ever New York Build Day in partnership with Project Franklin, a stealth-mode startup for Store No.8, Walmart's new incubator, to learn how to make and deliver a successful business pitch. (Think Shark Tank!) You’ll get the opportunity to work with fellow #BUILTBYGIRLS community members and pitch your idea to mock investors at Project Franklin. Mark Cuban’s got nothing on you.
Cristina Haines, Field Operations Manager at Franklin, has over six years of professional experience in large scale, hyper-growth tech companies like Uber. She’s a pro at pitching stakeholders to get buy-in and approval.
Other Franklin instructors on-site: Bart Stein (CEO), Anthony Cafaro (Head of Design), Whitney Pegden (Head of Ops), Ivy Malao (Software Engineer), Michelle Morgenbesser (Product Manager) and many others!
In this Build Day, you will:
Learn how to make and deliver a pitch (From discussing strategies of unexpected questions that arise during a typical Shark Tank pitch and watching a mock pitch)
Break into groups to work on pitches with Project Franklin employees
Show it off! Volunteer teams can present their perfect pitch
No laptop needed, just a phone is fine. Pizza will be served (#duh). See You There!
Please note: While our events are open to everyone, our events are geared towards students who identify as female or gender non-binary between the ages of 15-22.
