What are your plans for growth in terms of hiring in 2017 and for what positions?
We’ve already hired about 20 new employees so far in 2017 and we’ll be adding another handful before the end of the year. We have active interviews happening now for product and engineering positions, and we plan to continue to add more to our sales and engineering teams in the months ahead. Exact headcount is a little up in the air but we’re always open to talking to great people, even for the future or as opportunistic conversations! (Especially in engineering!)
What are your company’s core values or how would you best describe the culture and working environment at Yesware?
We are brave, ambitious, and resilient.
We empower each other and our customers.
We seek mastery in our profession and our market.
We grow by being genuine.
We achieve outstanding results.
The way that I personally think about the vibe at Yesware is that we take what we do very seriously but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Everyone is really smart and really good at what they do, but we also always try to keep a sense of humor about things and actually enjoy our time at work. You can see from the Glassdoor reviews that people have posted, (or from talking to any Yesware employee in person), that people do genuinely love the culture we’ve built at Yesware. I think a lot of that has to do with our core values listed above, and our incredible leadership team. More than anything, it has to do with the people at our company and the connection they’ve made to each other and their work.
Our CEO says all the time that his main goal in Yesware is to make it the best place we’ve ever worked. So far, so good.
Is there anything that you’d like to share in terms of promoting diversity across your company and hiring practices?
Diversity and inclusion are always top of mind for me, whether that’s in recruiting new employees or supporting our existing team. Yesware knows that diversity in all aspects makes us stronger not only as a business but as a community. I try not to just list off a bunch of stats on this topic, but we really do have people from all walks of life... employees of all ages, folks who were born in another country, people of color, members of the LGBTQ community, many different kinds of educational backgrounds, and much more.
As a technology company with over 40% women across the board -- including in management positions -- Yesware’s emphasis on diversity and inclusion is evident. That being said, it’s no secret that the tech world has a long way to go on the diversity and inclusion front, us included. Some of the ways we’re working hard to do more include:
- Inclusivity training and workshops
- Internal alliances and emerging employee resource groups
- Partnering with Out in Tech and similar organizations
- Sponsorship in the Women Forward in Technology Scholarship Program
- Participation in She Geeks Out initiatives
- Professional coaching to support the holistic wellness of all employees
What’s the best way to get a job at Yesware?
Talk to me! I love talking to people about Yesware! It’s always helpful if people are interested in specific jobs that are posted on our BIZZpage or careers page, but if you just want to have an exploratory conversation, I’m also happy to do so. I can be reached directly at firstname.lastname@example.org, or people can email general inquiries into email@example.com. Resumes, LinkedIn profiles, and a few words about your background and why you’re interested in Yesware is always appreciated.
What can people expect over the course of their career at Yesware?
To do challenging and interesting work, with smart, friendly people who respect each other, in an environment that cares about their personal and professional growth.
Share one or more random fun facts...
A few years ago, we were trying to decide how to reward employees who sent in new hire referrals. Referrals, as anyone in recruiting knows, are the best source of great future talent. A lot of companies give big chunks of cash for employee referrals -- which we were happy to do -- but then something amazing happened... We sent out a survey to the whole company, and our employees actually voted to use that money toward charity donations instead of keeping it for themselves.
So now, instead of a traditional referral bonus that goes straight to the referrer’s paycheck, Yesware donates $5,000 to the charity of the employee’s choice when a referral-sourced hire is made. Seeing those survey responses come in that day was just one of many times I’ve seen how amazing the people here are. I’m proud to report that because of this grassroots decision, Yesware has donated over $90,000 to nonprofits and charities since 2014.
Also… we have a legit Irish pub in our office. I’m talking double kegerator, bar tables, branded pint glasses, a dart board, and… a custom neon green side. So, yes, we like to put goodness out into the world AND we also like to have a little fun sometimes. :)
We have a lot of custom Slack emojis.

Anonymous Reviews From Glassdoor
“Truly the best culture, environment, and people I've ever worked with. The job is tough but the pay and benefits really do make it worthwhile. I've been through two roles here at Yesware and both taught me so very much. Everyone is willing to answer questions, and management is genuinely invested in your personal career goals and growth.”
“First off, Yesware offers an amazing team to work with. The people they hire always fit to the company's core values - which is HUGE for me. Someone is always there to pick you up and help out when you need it. Also, the benefits and perks offered here help keep everyone happy to be at work/excited to do their part toward our company goals (which is VERY different from previous places I've worked). Lastly, the future of Yesware looks very bright. Specifically, because we offer a great product that I believe in, and everyone has the opportunity to earn their way to a promotion/excel along their personal growth path. I absolutely love it here. SO happy I found Yesware!”
“Yesware has it all! Great people, a great product, and an awesome culture. Everyone from the top down, are fantastic. Upon joining the Yesware team, I immediately was welcomed and never felt like an outsider or a "nube"--people were friendly and each interaction felt truly genuine. I have worked for other tech companies where eye contact and even in-person conversations are a rarity and dead stares in the hallway and instant messages trump human interaction. It's refreshing to work in an environment where technology is used to the max, but a simple "hi" or laugh over lunch isn't lacking. The benefits and pay are nothing to sneeze at either! They reflect how much each employee is valued and not seen as just a worker. From the unlimited vacation days, nap room, massages, on-site fitness/wellness classes, awesome snacks and drinks, free lunches, and so on--I have never felt so wanted by a company. It's a pleasure to work here and cannot wait to see what the future holds!”
