Chief Executive Officer
Ed leads Akumina with a hands-on approach formed from 13 years in both Technical and Executive management roles at Ektron. He has built on his experiences as a software engineer and architect to form a deep understanding of how business needs intersect with technology to create innovative solutions. Prior to his role as Chief Operating Officer at Ektron, Ed was Chief Software Architect at TeleHomeCare at Global Telemedix, and held Senior Software Engineering roles at Zydacron and Bruker Instruments.
President & Chief Revenue Officer
David Maffei is a successful technology veteran with deep ties to Web Content Management, Business Continuity, Enterprise ECommerce and Award-Winning Professional Services teams. At Akumina, and previously at Carbonite (NASDAQ: CARB), Bridgeline (NASDAQ: BLIN) & Ektron (now EpiServer), Maffei is directly responsible for the company’s global revenue as well as the plans and strategies for developing business and achieving the company’s sales goals.
With a decade of success and deep market, technology and industry knowledge, Maffei is able to position trends ahead of the curve to promote thought leadership and differentiation within digital market segments that are highly saturated.
His charter is to manage the sales teams, operations and resources to deliver profitable growth, define and coordinate sales training programs that enable staff to achieve their potential and support company sales objectives while exceeding customer expectations and contributing to a high level of customer satisfaction.
Chief Technology Officer
Udaiappa Ramachandran (Udai) has over 16 years of experience building products and expertise in content management and learning management. At Akumina, Udai develops the technology and product roadmaps to turn Akumina into a market leader in digital content management using Microsoft Online products. He specializes in product development, cloud computing, Office 365, SharePoint, search, analytics, online training and security. He served as a Chief Software Architect at Ektron, driving Ektron’s product research, architecture and technology vision. While he was at Ektron he built CMS400.NET, Workflow, eSync, Cloud and SaaS based campaign management system. He is a Microsoft Azure insider and an organizer of the New Hampshire Cloud .NET user group. Udai holds a Master’s degree in Computer Applications and Bachelor degree in Mathematics from Madurai Kamaraj University, India.
Chief Operating Officer
Houghton’s experience includes 23 years at Microsoft in numerous executive-level roles, leading teams focused on building strong customer and partner relationships. These positions included General Manager for the Greater China Region, Enterprise & Partner Group. In this leadership role he was responsible for the overall strategy and business operations of the large enterprise, customer segment. Houghton was most recently President America’s Region for SITA, a multinational information technology company providing IT and telecommunication services to the air transport industry. SITA services over 430 members and 2,800 customers worldwide which is around 90% of the world’s airline business.
Vice President, Global Marketing
Prior to Akumina, Tahlor spent six years at Acquia rising through the ranks on the global Marketing team. She led various groups including North American Field Marketing and Global Channel Marketing, and spent three years in Sydney, Australia as Director of Marketing for APAC. Tahlor was part of Acquia during their explosive growth, from about $45M in revenue in 2012 and just north of $168M in 2017. Tahlor is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a B.S. in Business Administration with a focus on Management & Entrepreneurial Studies.

As Vice President of Sales, John is responsible for developing and executing the organization’s sales strategy to achieve overall growth targets. Prior to joining Akumina, John was Sr. Director of Channel Sales at Carbonite (NASDAQ: CARB) responsible for driving channel strategy and business development with Carbonite’s strategic partner base in North America. Before joining Carbonite, John spent six years in the Web content management space as Vice President of Business Development at Ektron (Now EpiServer). Prior to that, John led business development at Biddingforgood, a Boston-based technology company that provides online fundraising solutions. John holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Northeastern University.
