Ron Frankel has served as a member of Synacor's board of directors and as President and Chief Executive Officer since April 2001. Prior to joining Synacor, Frankel served as CEO at Perks.com, Inc. He held the position of President of MGM Interactive, the interactive division of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Inc., as well as SVP, Marketing and Sales at Kenfil Distribution. From 1988 to 1991, Frankel served in several executive positions at Softview, Inc., lastly as SVP of Marketing and Sales. Frankel attended the University of California at Berkeley and received a J.D. from the University of Southern California Law Center.
Recognized for his entrepreneurial spirit and leadership by Ernst & Young as an "Entrepreneur of the Year," George Chamoun has been critical to Synacor's success since its inception. Currently the executive vice president of sales and marketing, he has been instrumental in creating a company that helps cable operators differentiate their broadband offerings in an increasingly competitive marketplace. Chamoun co-founded Synacor in 2000 through the merger of MyPersonal, a portal infrastructure company, with Chek.com, a messaging infrastructure provider. Prior to the creation of Synacor, Chamoun was co-founder and president of Chek.com. He has been recognized for his accomplishments throughout the cable and telecommunications industry, most notably in 2009 when Multichannel News named him one of the publication's "40-under-40" most influential innovators in the industry. He is a graduate of State University of New York at Buffalo with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.
An Emmy award winner for his work in advanced media technology, Scott Bailey brings more than a decade of broadcasting and publishing experience to Synacor as the company's chief operations officer. Managing daily operations and strategy for the sales and advertising, IT and HR departments, he helps the company tackle broadcast and digital media convergence during the industry's biggest transformation to date. Previously, Bailey held positions at Comcast Interactive Media and Turner Broadcasting. His efforts at Comcast led to increased user growth of Comcast.net. At Turner Broadcasting he was instrumental in establishing and growing a new interactive, sports and entertainment division – now known as Turner Sports Interactive – for which he was recognized in Sports Business Journal as one of "The 20 Most Influential: In Online Sports." Bailey currently serves on the board of advisors for YOLA, a website builder and hosting service that helps small businesses differentiate themselves online. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Bowling Green State University.
Equipped with extensive experience managing the fiscal needs and requirements of publicly- and privately-held companies, Bill Stuart applies his financial acumen to Synacor as its chief financial officer. Throughout his career he has held several CFO positions where he has led and managed finance teams through everything from private equity financing and mergers and acquisitions to public company financial leadership and governance. Prior to Synacor, Stuart held CFO positions for two publicly-held technology companies and three privately-held companies. He was also a partner at Boston-based venture capital firm Still River Fund. Most notably, he led the financial transition of Avici Systems, a publicly-held supplier of core routers, from a hardware supplier to a software company, rebranded as Soapstone Networks. He has his Master in Business Administration from Northeastern University and his Bachelor of Arts from Boston College.
A cloud software expert, Steve Davi brings vast engineering experience to Synacor, with specialization in digital media, HTML5, over-the-top, mobile, and advertising monetization models. Previously, Davi held positions at SeaChange, where his most recent role was chief technology officer with responsibility for overall software technology architecture and company strategy related to product design, system planning and industry standards. Prior to SeaChange International, Davi worked at Banyan Systems and Data General in software engineering leadership and contributor roles. Davi holds a BS in Computer Science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an MS in Computer Science from Northeastern University.
TV Everywhere visionary, innovator and boundary-breaker, Michael Bishara—largely credited as a force behind the development and successful launch of HBO GO and now Synacor’s award-winning, next-gen TV and TV Everywhere offerings—was recently named as Synacor's Senior Vice President of Product & General Manager of TV Everywhere. Bishara’s expertise ensures Synacor’s cable, satellite, telecom and consumer electronics customers have all the content, apps and services they need to deliver breakthrough user experiences. Prior to his current position, Bishara was Senior Vice President, HBO Broadband /Digital Group where he was responsible for the overall strategy, development and rollout of broadband products, including HBO GO. Before HBO, Bishara held marketing and product leadership roles at industry giants Time Inc. and AT&T. In 2010, Bishara was named by Multichannel News editors as one of the Visionaries, Innovators, Power Brokers: 40 Under Forty for helping HBO grow and succeed as he oversaw the development and rollout of innovative products like HBO GO, which has become an industry benchmark, helping to shape the future of TV / media. In 2013, Broadcasting & Cable named him as a Digital All-Star. Bishara is a heavily sought-after speaker, having recently presented at CES, Variety, Digital Hollywood, TelcoTV, OnScreen Media Summit, Next TV Summit, Streaming Media East, TV of Tomorrow Show, and many more.
Molly Chvala is the Vice President of Product and she is the leader of both our Solution and our Design team. She takes ownership of Synacor's Android Products. She also guides the overall strategy and integration of those products into Synacor's offerings. Molly started with Synacor as a contract worker about ten years ago and has had several advancing roles since.
