The HBS Alumni New Venture Competition (NVC) is looking for Big Ideas and Great Teams today!

The Harvard Business School Association of Boston (HBSAB) has launched its 2012 New Venture Program (NVP) in collaboration with the Worldwide HBS Alumni New Venture Competition.  The HBSAB NVP will include a series of programs and events to support, promote and celebrate entrepreneurial teams in New England which have at least one HBS alum. The NVP will culminate in a competition in March 2012 to find the New England venture team which will go on to the Worldwide Competition to be held at HBS in April 2012.

NVC Criteria:

NVC is open to businesses with potential for getting to significant scale, up to $2 million in current revenue, up to $1 million in invested debt and equity capital, and at least one HBS alum on the core team. Pre-revenue teams are welcome.

NVC Benefits include:

  • Advice, mentorship, and individualized feedback from prominent VCs, angel investors, successful entrepreneurs, and leading professional service providers
  • Participation in a series of panel discussions, workshops, and networking events created by and for entrepreneurs
  • Cash and in-kind prizes for finalists of the HBSAB New England competition. The contest winner will receive a cash prize of $10,000 and the 2nd place finalist will receive $5,000. In addition to the cash prizes, valuable non-cash resources such as in-kind professional services will be provided.
  • Global exposure through the HBS worldwide contest. The winner of the HBSAB New England competition will be eligible to participate in the global HBS competition which will include teams from around the world. The global competition winner will receive a cash prize of $50,000 and the 2nd place finalist will receive $25,000, plus significant non-cash benefits.

January 9th: Kickoff Event in Boston featuring the founders of Kayak, Rue La La, and Gazelle

January 17 th: Winning and Losing by Design Event featuring Fresh Tilled Soil CEO

January 27 th: Registration deadline for the HBSAB New Venture Program

February 29th:  Business plan submission deadline for the HBSAB New Venture Competition

March 12th: Winner of HBSAB New Venture Competition announced

April 23rd – 24th: HBS Global Alumni New Venture Competition Finals
