Position Overview

We are seeking several accomplished, innovative, and talented Interaction Designers for our leading edge UX team to help design the next generation of dynamic discovery applications and software products.  Our Interaction Designers have opportunities to solve challenging discovery problems for people inside and outside the enterprise, help grow Endeca product capabilities and the product portfolio, and define UI design best practices (e.g., see the Endeca User Interface Design Pattern Library).   You will be part of a team with the challenge and opportunity of designing great user experiences for varied end-users as well as application templates, components, and tools that enable others to build effective Endeca powered solutions.  We are looking for Interaction Designers who readily grasp and can help realize and expand the power of Endeca’s platform to enable innovative, valuable, compelling, and personalized discovery experiences. (These positions will be based in our Cambridge, MA office.).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with UX Architects, Visual Designers, and Product Development teams within an agile product development process to optimize product quality and user experience
• Iteratively design highly effective, compelling, and adoptable Endeca powered search and discovery applications for enterprise, ebusiness, and the public sector
• Design innovative Endeca UI frameworks, templates, components, and tools that enable others to rapidly build and configure discovery solutions
• Create effective UI design artifacts – particularly UI wireframes- to guide development teams
• Provide UI development oversight to ensure realization of designs and UX-usability quality/effectiveness
• Work as the interaction designer for selected customer projects to design solutions for strategic problems that will inform, improve, and extend Endeca products
• Help conduct/collaborate on user research, iterative UI design evaluations (e.g. user testing) to inform continuous product improvement
• Contribute to the articulation and evolution of Endeca UX best practices, thought leadership & knowledge base (e.g., Endeca UI Design Pattern Library) and UI innovation

Requirements

5-7 years in interaction design and user experience consulting in a mix of business/consulting and product development environments

• Outstanding skills in interaction design & information architecture
• Expertise and experience designing user interfaces in one or more of the following areas: enterprise search and analysis applications (e.g., business intelligence solutions, dashboards, etc.), e-business applications (e.g., e-commerce, media and publishing, etc.), application frameworks (e.g., portal technologies, CMS systems, etc.), and business/developer tools
• Experienced and skilled working with cross-functional software development teams within an agile product development process
• Advanced degree or equivalent in information architecture, information design, interaction design, HCI, Cognitive Science, Human Factors, or related field
• Knowledgeable about all facets of user experience/human-centered design
• Practical knowledge of emerging user interface-web-presentation technologies
• Able to collaborate effectively with visual designers and UI developers to optimize solutions and user experience
• Strong communication skills and time/project management skills
• Experienced and skilled with UI wireframing/prototyping tools (e.g., Axure)
