Senior Software Engineer

In October of 2014, a team of Harvard and MIT alumni set out to transform the beverage industry and hired their first BevSpot employee. Since then, we’ve raised $19 million in funding and have rocketed to a team of almost 70.  With endless global potential in a $1 trillion industry, we are are modernizing the global beverage space by providing businesses with powerful technology, data and insights to replace traditional pen and paper processes.

BevSpot is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our extremely talented engineering team to help develop, improve and scale our applications.  This person will play an integral role in growing and developing our engineering team and business overall.

Technologies and Tools We Use

  • Java 8, JUnit, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Python, Thrift

  • React (Redux), TypeScript2, SCSS, Karma/Mocha Testing Framework, StoryBook

  • GIT, Jenkins, Maven, NPM, Webpack, Jira

  • AWS, CloudFormation, RDS

What you will do

  • Guide designing, estimating effort for, implementing, testing, debugging, configuring, integrating, documenting and delivering software across the application.

  • Be a mentor to junior members of the engineering team by actively engage in code reviews, design feedback and mentorship.

  • Leading projects by driving effective process, collaborating with other departments, managing timelines, and delivering business value.

  • Actively contribute to product design and feature selection by working closely with product and design teams to build the next generation of products.

What an A+ candidate looks like

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred, with a strong background in systems and complexity.

  • Has 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated team lead or mentorship skills.

  • Has developed and scaled web applications comprised of distributed systems and complex hosted deployments. Scaling SAAS experience beneficial.

  • Comprehensive working knowledge of SQL-style relational databases and concepts such as data-modeling, performance, normalization, transactions, etc...

  • Strong opinions and principles on writing reliable, readable, testable code as well as abstractions, patterns and architecture.
