Rent the Runway - the Netflix of haute couture, and one of NYC's fastest growing startups to find an a Senior MySQL DBA. This position is key to designing, implementing, and maintaining MySQL databases in a dynamic e-commerce environment. Responsibilities
- Analyze and tune MySQL performance on various hardware platforms
- Maintain security of databases and keep technical documentation up to date
- Perform capacity planning and scale out the platform to accommodate a growing infrastructure
- Create methodologies and contingency plans
- Develop scripts to automate DBA functions
- Assist software engineers with query performance tuning and identify inefficient queries
- Provide SQL and data modeling expertise to business analysts
- Provide oversight for resolving customer support needs and service level issues
- Perform installations, backups, recoveries, and schema alterations as necessary
- Proactively work on optimization of database performance and stability
- Recommend updates to systems as necessary
- Collaborate with business units to cater technology to the company’s business needs
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5-10 years MySQL DBA experience, including designing, tuning, optimizing, and updating
- Excellent knowledge of MySQL and Oracle database tools
- Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux platforms
- MySQL experience is required; Oracle is a nice to have.
- Experience with key-value stores, file stores nice to have.
- Experience with OLAP systems and ETL nice to have.
- Experience with Perl/Python
- Experience with MySQL performance optimization
- Familiarity with shell programming
- Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve a broad range of technical problems
- Strong written and oral communication skills with colleagues of all levels
- Ability to work well independently and with others
- Ability to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, unstructured startup environment
Preferred
- Experience in e-commerce environment preferred
- Experience with ERD tools preferred.
