Location: Waltham, MA, with some travel for meetings at prospect and customer sites around the US.

Job Overview

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and professional individual with in-depth technical abilities as well as commercial acumen and sales skills. You might have a background in pre-sales or you might be an experienced IT professional with strong communication skills looking to move out of the back office. This position is a technical pre-sales consulting role supporting the sales activities of the Mimecast North American business unit. The primary responsibilities are to provide pre-sales technical support to Mimecast sales staff, reseller partners and customers. Other responsibilities are to include an element of ongoing support oversight for major customers (in conjunction with our support team) and reseller partners, some project management activities and involvement in key customer engagements and training of our partner’s technical staff. A large majority of the activity will be focused on pre-sales activity.

Mimecast are helping many customers migrate to new email platforms such as Exchange 2010 and Office 365 and this role will be instrumental in providing guidance to customers on how to best use the Mimecast services to achieve a lower risk migration while maintaining availability and security of the email service for customers. Therefore a good understanding and first-hand experience of the current market leading email system migration processes and software tools is essential.

As Mimecast is a rapidly growing and evolving company the role is very flexible and will involve many different and changing aspects, including for example, interfacing with product management, marketing, business development and training.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Providing Technical Pre-Sales Support. Providing technical advice and support to sales opportunities and engaging with technical contacts in customer and reseller partner organizations, to ensure the Mimecast service is positioned correctly, understood and any technical objections are overcome. This will include product demonstrations, presentations to senior customer contacts and writing formal RFP response documents as well as the preparation of high level implementation plans. The role will involve close working with sales colleagues and input into the qualification and sales strategies in partnership with sales.
  • Post Sales and General Technical support. Although most activities will be pre-sales there will be an some amount of post-sales and implementation activity in conjunction with our Service Delivery team, working with more complex solutions and overseeing the implementation and roll-out of large deployments. Due to the flexible nature of Mimecast the role could involve other technical aspects such as assisting other sales teams and colleagues, working on internal projects and developments and working with technology partners.
  • Training and developing reseller partners. This position will also involve ensuring that Mimecast reseller partners are capable of selling and supporting Mimecast services. This will include training partners and developing close working relationships with technical staff in the reseller partner organization.

Experience and Skills

Essential

  • Experience in the design, management and maintenance of typical business email systems
  • Strong understanding of typical email system migration processes and tools used in Exchange migrations and upgrades
  • Extensive understanding of email archiving solutions and archiving business drivers
  • Experience of working with demanding business customers
  • Familiarity with networking and security technologies and services
  • Understanding of spam, viruses and email security and Internet based threats
  • Proven record of taking ownership of real customer issues and resolving them under pressure
  • Track record of responsibility for project leadership and completion
  • Ability to work with and gain input and resources from multiple teams and disciplines
  • Ability to explain technical solutions to a business focused customer
  • Ability to be proactive and self sufficient
  • Flexible approach and willingness to learn new skills and disciplines

Desirable

  • In depth understanding of email management and archiving solutions such as LiveOffice, FrontBridge, Symantec Enterprise Vault, Autonomy EAS, EMC SourceOnce
  • Experience in dealing with customers in a pre-sales environment
  • Experience in consultative selling of complex services
  • Real experience with anti-spam, anti-virus, archiving vendors and services
  • Experience with Saas based solutions
  • Experience of operating in an indirect sales environment
  • Experience of working in a high growth and dynamic company
