Position Description

We’re looking for a motivated, smart, and enthusiastic PHP Developer with strong communication and organizational skills, hungry to help evolve and expand our existing web applications. You’ll be working closely with our Director of Technology in a new department tasked with evolving our existing technologies and exploring new initiatives to better reach and support our students and customers.  Together, we’ll build our next generation of web applications.

This position is ideal for someone looking to get their ‘hands dirty’ in a growing business while developing and further expanding their technical skillset. The ideal candidate will have experience developing object-oriented web applications with PHP and relational databases such as MySQL, Oracle, and SQL Server.  They’ll also  be comfortable with “front end” web development coding, including HTML/CSS and JavaScript (particularly jQuery). Our candidate will know how consume web services and other “mashup” APIs, be respectful but not be afraid of a linux command prompt, and perhaps know a thing or two about information systems and business analytics. Experience with  mobile , interaction and graphic design savvy, and/or business intelligence is a plus.

Ideal Candidate

• Demonstrable proficiency with PHP, MySQL/SQL Server (other RDBMS)
• Proficiency with JavaScript, AJAX. Exposure to jQuery a plus.
• Experience with Web Service APIs
• Comfort with Object Oriented Programing and team software development
• Familiarity with HTML/CSS, semantic coding, and web standards
• Comfortable in Linux and Windows server environments.
• Bachelor’s Degree from a leading undergraduate program
• 1 to 3 years prior professional experience
• A strong work-ethic and a can-do attitude
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent organizational skills
