Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Information Technology professional to join our IT Enterprise Applications team.  This person will be instrumental in defining and executing the vision for Enterprise Applications for Endeca.  He/she will directly engage with IT and business management team members for defining, prioritizing and supporting application development and implementation activities.  He/she will also be a motivational leader to other members of the Enterprise Applications Team.

Responsibilities

The Applications Architect is responsible for the overall design, delivery and support of enterprise applications that meet business requirements defined by the business stakeholder(s).

 - Formulates enterprise applications architecture plans and ensures projects align with strategic needs of the business.
 - Develops long-term strategy for developing and implementing systems that minimizes IT maintenance time and overall total cost of ownership.
 - Assesses and advises on best solution for building applications balancing the need for speed of development (e.g., highly iterative development) vs. long term stability (e.g., structured development)
 - Create and document development requirements for database, applications and operating system environments.
 - Create and enforce team standards for coding, testing and documentation.
 - Troubleshoot system issues and identify ways to improve the application.
 - Supervise development activities of the team and establish priority of new and existing requests.
 - Demonstrate expertise in a variety of enterprise application concepts, practices and procedures.
 - Mentor technical staff members.
 - Consult with Business Analysts and end users to design new solutions and support existing solutions.
 - Stay current on leading technologies and create strategies to incorporate into the enterprise.
 - Develop software code and database applications for new or existing systems that meet business needs.
 - Perform software and application upgrades to maintain compliance with vendor and team standards.
 - Create and support application interfaces that are used to exchange data between disparate systems.
 - Conduct unit and integration testing activities.  Support User Acceptance Testing activities.
 - Manage backlog of production fixes and enhancement requests using the IT Service Desk system.

Qualifications

The candidate will demonstrate expert knowledge in the following areas:

 - Full life-cycle architect and project management experience including requirements gathering, analysis, resource and time estimation, task and deliverables tracking, design, development and delivery.
 - Demonstrated management of leading technical teams.
 - Design and development of java/J2EE web applications.
 - Working knowledge of .Net
 - Commercial off-the-shelf, Open Source and custom application development and implementation experience.
 - Experience integrating on-premise and cloud-based technologies.
 - Experience with ERP, CRM, Knowledge Management, Content Management Systems and social media application development (wikis, blogs, forums, portals).
 - Strong understanding of XML and web services technology – SOAP, WSDL, XSL, XSLT, XQuery
 - Experience with one or more of the following:  Spring, Struts, Hibernate, Maven, Ant, Eclipse

The ideal candidate will meet or exceed the following criteria:

 - 10 years IT application development experience.
 - Experience with Agile development techniques, namely Scrum.
 - Experience with SAP, Salesforce.com, OpenAir or Atlassian collaboration tools (Confluence, Jira).
 - Experience with JSR-170/JCR web content management systems running customer-facing websites.
 - Experience with enterprise search applications using Endeca, Lucene or other solutions is a plus.
 - Experience with project collaboration technologies that enable distributed application development.
