Financial Controller

Reporting to the CFO, the Financial Controller will be responsible for all aspects of accounting across the business.  As a key member of the team at an early stage company, the Controller will be expected to contribute to the establishment of standard practices and procedures across the finance function, and will be given a wide remit to influence and implement new ideas and initiatives.

Responsibilities include:

• The full range of activity in the finance department, including accounting, budgeting, inter-company consolidations, forecasting, reporting, audit, accounts payable / receivable, payroll and insurance.  Some elements of the HR function will also fall under this role.
• SilverRail is an international business, doing transaction processing in multiple global geographies and multiple currencies.   The Controller will need both the appetite and aptitude to deal with a high level of complexity that his entails.
• As the business and finance department grows, the Controller will be responsible for hiring, mentoring and managing additional members of the finance team.
• Likely will be responsible for the selection and implementation of a new accounting software suite, managing the transition from QuickBooks

Qualifications , experience and characteristics

• Education – Undergraduate degree with a numerate focus required, e.g. math, engineering, business, accounting.
• Experience – 5+ years of work experience.  Strong preference for both public accounting (CPA) and private company experience.  Will hire on aptitude and ability over experience.
• Solid knowledge of accounting practices and financial controls
• Highly analytical, with a focus on data-based decision making
• The ability to work on multiple projects and the ability to prioritize in order to meet aggressive timelines and expectations
