Endeca is looking for Engineering Managers to lead development teams responsible for its MDEX server. We are looking for technical leaders who will help drive the evolution of Endeca’s query evaluation capabilities.  The Scale team is focused on increasing the scalability of the MDEX server by an order of magnitude and beyond. We are designing and implementing a multi-threaded relational evaluation kernel which will become the engine for all aspects of run-time evaluation of the MDEX server.  In order to succeed, we are in need of a leader with vision to address new technical challenges and to coordinate teams to effectively and consistently deliver well-designed, high quality software for this highly visible project.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a capability to manage a team delivering quality software in an agile development environment and leverage software development principles and practices such as OO design and testing to grow the breadth and sophistication of each team member’s development skills.

Responsibilities include:
- Drive all aspects of the software life-cycle, including: definition, design, implementation, testing and delivery.
- Manage a core engineering team of 6-8 developers to deliver software in response to business and technical requirements
- Collaborate in solving challenging problems related to Endeca’s product scalability strategy

Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent (advanced degrees preferred)
- 6+ years experience in software development
- Strong skills in object oriented design and development
- Current or recent experience as a hands-on manager or technical lead of a group
- Experience building core infrastructure software products (servers, tools, compilers, parallel or multithreaded distributed systems, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment

Preferred Experience:
- Significant experience with C++
- Experience managing other engineers
- Experience with agile development
- Architectural / Design Experience
