The CarGurus Product team is looking for an experienced Director of Data Analytics and Revenue Optimization, reporting to the SVP Product. This leader will spearhead the company’s product data analytics function and drive CarGurus’ product pricing and revenue optimization strategies. The candidate will have extensive experience with data analytics techniques, pricing and packaging strategies, and a proven ability to leverage these skills to deliver business insight. The candidate must be able to build and lead a team of data analysts and work cross-functionally with many departments and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Product, Engineering, and Finance teams to ensure efficient and accurate reporting systems that scale with the business
  • Maintain data integrity and “single source of truth” across multiple internal databases and reporting systems
  • Develop, test, and analyze product pricing, packaging, and bundling strategies to optimize revenue in close collaboration with Product, Marketing, Finance, and Sales team
  • Define and lead the development of our next generation reporting and business intelligence tools
  • Design and implement product testing strategy to inform iteration and product design and business strategy
  • Present data analysis, visualizations, and insights to key stakeholders
  • Recruit, lead, and develop a team of data analysts with responsibility for:
    • Development of business intelligence dashboards and data visualization tools to track product performance and cross-functional business objectives
    • Ad hoc data mining and analysis to support exploration of hypotheses regarding performance of existing product features and opportunities for new product offerings

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; Masters in a related field preferred (e.g. Economics, Math, Statistics, or Computer Science)
  • 8+ years of experience in data analytics
  • Previous experience with product pricing and revenue optimization initiatives
  • Advanced level knowledge of SQL required
  • Working knowledge of various data analysis and reporting tools and comfort in getting up to speed on new tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau, or similar business intelligence tools)
  • Strong curiosity to uncover and interpret emerging data insights; passion to explore and determine the implications of data, not just the factual answers to questions
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional setting
  • Familiarity with web and mobile analytics datasets and A/B testing methodologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to hire, manage, and develop a team of data analysts
