Compete is seeking an outstanding individual to run a large piece our Travel Practice.  This experienced team member will be responsible for managing and developing strong relationships with existing clients and will also play a key role in new business development.  This person will also work directly with executives at top-tiered travel clients in the online space.

The role is combination of research, consulting and business development. Successful candidates should be ready to ‘roll-up their sleeves and get into the data’ while also drawing business insights that will help clients measurably improve their business and increase the depth of Compete’s relationship with them. Compete is a fun, fast-paced and intense work environment. 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Oversee client relationships, including responsibility for delivering consultative presentations and up-selling and renewing existing clients;
  • Conceive, lead and perform new analysis of consumer marketing issues and business practices using large datasets of online behavior and survey responses;
  • Creatively combine observed consumer behavior data with survey capabilities to resolve near and long-term business problems for clients;
  • Recruit, train and manage Client Services team members to support client delivery capabilities;
  • Lead new client growth in collaboration with client development team;
  • Contribute to new product and service development initiatives in collaboration with analytics and development teams;
  • Manage and grow strategic account relationships with handset and consumer electronics manufacturers;
  • Assist sales in communicating Compete’s value proposition to prospective clients;
  • Develop and publish articles in industry and national publications leveraging Compete analysis;
  • Speak to the press and present at conferences about industry trends and issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Business or Economics preferred;
  • 5 + years of professional experience in the Internet, consulting, consumer marketing, marketing research, consumer technologies or travel/auto industries;
  • Experience making consulting-oriented presentations to executive-level audiences;
  • Experience performing market research and analysis using large data sets;
  • Strong analytical writing skills and attention to detail;
  • Demonstrated track record of developing and managing long-term internal or external client relationships;
  • High energy level, unbounded enthusiasm and strong desire to excel in any circumstance;
