Associate Director, App Retention Marketing

The App Marketing team owns app user growth and retention across the Wayfair and Lifestyle Brand apps. We operate as a well-funded startup, responsible for full-funnel app marketing leveraging digital advertising (e.g. Facebook, Google, etc.) to drive installs, App Store optimization, push notifications, app re-engagement campaigns and owned media strategy. We partner closely with internal teams such as Data Science, Ad Tech, App Product, Promotions, and Creative to expand our advertising reach and provide a more personalized and sticky app experience. The app is a strategic lever for the business and growing quickly. As such, this is a great opportunity to generate measurable impact for the business in a high-visibility role.

What You'll Do

  • Lead a team of managers and analysts to manage app retention work streams across Wayfair and Lifestyle Brand apps
  • Develop and execute on a data-driven strategy to drive app engagement and revenue, increase loyalty and evaluate re-install opportunity
  • Closely monitor push campaign performance and retention cohort metrics, and react to deviations from plan quickly
  • Create and own app customer segmentation and identify opportunities to drive specific user behaviors at different points in the customer lifecycle
  • Partner closely with Notifications Product, Data Science and Recommendations teams to develop a more personalized 1:1 push notifications strategy to serve the right content at the right time
  • Institute rigorous test-and-learn methodology to achieve desired results
  • Collaborate with App Product team to prioritize product initiatives to improve user onboarding and engagement and increase customer lifetime value

What You'll Need

  • Dynamic self-starter with high operational acumen and an entrepreneurial mindset looking to make a big impact in a growing organization

  • Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to tailor communication style based on the audience
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills; comfortable building a strategy and story using large data sets
  • Get stuff done attitude Able to roll up your sleeves and take on whatever comes your way
  • Collaborative team player who wants to see themselves and others thrive
  • BA with strong academic record (strong preference for quantitative backgrounds such as economics, math, statistics); MBA preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in either quant-focused industries such as consulting, investment banking, product management, or an experienced marketing professional looking for a new challenge; 2+ years management experience, including success in building and scaling teams
  • Familiarity with Excel, SQL, and Test and Learn practices
  • Prior app or product marketing experience is a plus but not required
