We want to be an alternative to big box retailers by creating an online marketplace that connects consumers with local artisans and craftspeople across the country.  Not only does our site allow consumers to find exactly what they are looking to have made, it also allows custom makers of all types to effectively market themselves in an increasingly digital world.

We are creating a consumer experience where consumers can connect with an artisan maker to co-create something tangible and unique. You won’t see a shopping cart or a checkout tag on our site, but you will meet thousands of makers who are thrilled about the prospect of creating something with you.

What we are looking for:   

With Google Ventures as our lead investor, we are well on our way to becoming the go-to marketplace for all things custom. To take us all the way there, we need someone to lead the charge on turning every Maker into a CustomMade verified “Power Maker”. This means creating and implementing structure around how we handle our high value makers and gaining a deep understanding of the typical pain points they face by immersing yourself in interaction with our growing Maker-base.

You will:

  • Take the reigns on automating how Maker concerns and questions are handled and make product suggestions to eliminate any and all pain points
  • Be the primary contact and advocate for approximately 400 small and medium sized business customers (our Makers)
  • Maintain a revenue base by managing Maker activity
  • Drive upgrade revenue from new product feature adoption and expanded usage
  • Work as part of the team to develop strategies for scale and growth

You have:

  • 5+ years prior experience with a sales or account management team, preferably in a startup or fast growth environment
  • Experience working with small business owners and marketers
  • A verifiable track record of consistently meeting and exceeding revenue goals
  • A firm grasp of how business works, including sales, consultative, problem solving, and issue resolution skills
  • Knowledge of small business needs and pain points
  • Clear and articulate communication skills and the ability to effectively drive a phone conversation
  • Phenomenal organizational skills
  • 2-4 years of experience in community management, offline outreach, educational programs, and developing relationships
  • Exceptional ability to listen, take feedback well, and communicate in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience building and implementing a strategic program from scratch with minimal guidance
  • Courage to present bold, creative ideas in a collaborative environment, even if it means making mistakes along the way.
  • A demonstrated passion for and knowledge of custom made items.
