In 18 months, the company has grown their site to 100,000 plus users. Karen majored in English & Political Science at the University of Richmond in Virginia in 1978. Fell in love with high tech when working in the marketing department of a small CADD (Computer Aided Design Drafting) company in Baltimore. Got the entrepreneurial bug and was hired as Director of Sales & Marketing (as the 3rd employee) at West End Film, a pioneer in PC based animation. They grew & sold West End Film to Pansophic Systems for $6 million & due to that success was recruited to Boston to become Director of Marketing for Number Nine Computer Graphics. While at Number Nine,Karen met three engineers & with them, co-founded DOME imaging systems, a market leading medical imaging technology company in 1988. Having bootstrapped DOME for 2 and a half years and working as a waitress to get the company off the ground, Karen eventually Angel financed and later sold the company in 2002 to Planar Systems returning $70 million to shareholders on a $2 million investment. Not one to retire, she co-founded www.doink.com two years ago with one of her former DOME business partners. DoInk is a Web 2.0 site that provides on line drawing & animation tools.
