Professor Golan Levin, Director of the Carnegie Mellon University Frank-Ratchye STUDIO for Creative Inquiry and Associate Professor of Computation Arts in the College of Fine Arts will discuss a wide range of his computational and new-media artworks and how the use of speculative gestural interfaces (like Kinect for Xbox 360), digital fabrication, and information visualization can support new modes of critical inquiry, interaction, and play. He will also discuss recent initiatives in real-time robotic arts, social and tactical media, 4-dimensional cinema, and biological art.

In October 2012, Dr. Levin was named one of ‘50 Designers Shaping the Future’ by Fast Company magazine for his work, which explores new intersections of machine code and visual culture.
