Success. The Big Dance. Whether it’s a liquidity event such as an
IPO, or a lucrative company sale, successfully of launching a new
product or pursuing a company turnaround, most of us are motivated to
achieve it and if possible, repeat it. Success stimulates the same
reward centers in the brain as food and sex so we’re programmed to go
get it. For most of us, success stems from preparation, practice, and
persistence, but along the way there are valuable principles that if
applied can increase the probability of successful outcomes.

February’s panel focuses on practical tips from local experts, founders and CEOs who will speak about the key actions that led to their successful outcomes. Moderated by Bob Davis, General Partner , Highland Capital and former CEO of Terra Lycos, the panel will discuss a range of critical success factors and how each panelist applied them to achieve their goals. Join us for insights on what worked for three serial entrepreneurs and turnaround experts: Katherine Hays, who created a new advertising medium and network and sold to Microsoft, Kent Plunkett, who founded an human resources software as service start-up and led it to a successful IPO; Maura FitzGerald, who developed a brand in the PR service area and sold to a global advertising agency; and Brook Colangelo, SVP and CIO of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and former CIO for the Executive Office of the President (EOP). Although each experience is unique, there are common denominators and patterns of successful behavior that you can borrow, emulate and use to map your path to your desired outcome for your start-up, company or future venture.
