There's
a lot of buzz around BIG DATA these days, but don't let these words
intimidate you. Big Data has been called "the next frontier for
innnovation, competition and productivity" (McKinsey) and one of the
"Big Five IT trends of the next half decade" (ZDNet). VCs estimate that Big Data is a $100Bn industry with only 1,000 practioners.What
exactly is Big Data and what can you do with it? This class provides
conceptual frameworks for thinking about Big Data and presents concrete
examples of Big Data applications being used today.
Prerequisites:
This
class will cover technical architectures and will show some code
snippets. You don't need to be a developer to take this class but some
technical experience would be beneficial.
