Description

Boston is home to one of the largest startup communities in the world and pioneers new models to address the challenges faced by international & immigrant entrepreneurs when trying to start their ventures in the United States.Launching a startup company is hard. Doing it as an entrepreneur from another country who graduated from one of our universities is harder. Please join David Frankel, Managing Partner, Founder Collective and a great lineup of other leading investors, lawyers and entrepreneurs to learn how to successfully navigate the changing entrepreneur immigration landscape.

Against this backdrop, the Venture Development Center (VDC) at UMass Boston is hosting an Innovation & Entrepreneurship Summit, focusing on international and immigrant entrepreneurs’ success stories, their contributions to the innovation economy and how they are making it when all odds were initially against them. The event goals are to increase awareness on needed support for international entrepreneurs, enabling them to launch high growth companies and contribute to the US and global economies, and offer advice to current entrepreneurial students. In addition, the event offers an exclusive opportunity for global talents and entrepreneurs to join current and alumni startups of the VDC during networking.

Through its Global Entrepreneur in Residence (GEIR) program, the VDC helps international entrepreneurs launch high growth companies in Massachusetts and the United States. The GEIR program provides an innovative and legal pathway to establish, attract and retain world-class entrepreneurs here in the United States.

The summit will feature panel discussions on the importance of providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for the development of international talent, economic value, innovation and entrepreneurship as well as founders sharing their successes during and post GEIR program, and investors' percpective on immigrationa and entrepreneruship.
