Bradford Networks raises $3M in funding

Bradford Networks, the best choice to enable secure network access for corporate issued and personal mobile devices, today announced the closing of a $3 million round of financing.  Updata Partners led the round and was joined by Windspeed Ventures. The investment will support Bradford’s rapid expansion into the healthcare and government markets, fueled by increasing demand for the company’s Network Sentry product as part of a comprehensive Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) security approach.

Vanu raises $3.2M in funding

As per SEC filings, Vanu in Cambridge, MA has raised $3.2M in funding.  Vanu provides wireless infrastructure solutions for commercial carriers and government customers, focusing on coverage needs where current technology does not provide a
cost effective solution for carriers today.

Virtual Computer acquired by Citrix

Citrix announced the acquisition of Virtual Computer, provider of enterprise-scale management solutions for client-side virtualization. Citrix will combine the newly-acquired Virtual Computer technology with its market-leading XenClient® hypervisor to create the new Citrix XenClient Enterprise edition. The new XenClient Enterprise will combine all the power of the XenClient hypervisor with a rich set of management functionality designed to help enterprise customers manage large fleets of corporate laptops across a distributed enterprise. The combined solution will give corporate laptop users the power of virtual desktops “to go”, while making it far more secure and cost-effective for IT to manage thousands of corporate laptops across today’s increasingly mobile enterprise.

Intronis raises $2.9M in funding

As per SEC filings, Intronis in Boston, MA has raised $2.9M in funding.  Intronis Cloud Backup and Recovery is a world-class cloud backup solution for the IT channel.

Certeon raises $4M in funding

Today Certeon Inc. announced that Massood Zarrabian has joined Certeon as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and that they have raised a new $4 million round of venture capital to fund continuing investments in R&D and Sales.

Ipswitch acquires iOpus Software

Ipswitch's Network Management Division, developers of the WhatsUp Gold suite of innovative IT management software, announced today that it has acquired iOpus Software, a leading provider of Web application performance testing and monitoring solutions from the cloud. The addition of the iOpus AlertFox and iMacros capabilities will empower application owners and IT staff customers to more effectively track and ensure optimal Web application performance, creating a better end-user experience. Radio Mobile Access raises $9.5M in funding

As per SEC filings, Radio Mobile Access in Andover, MA has raised $9.5M in funding.  Radio Mobile Access is building an array of solutions for the mobile broadband industry. Their vision/mission is to enhance communications experience, and reduce cost of technology.

Terascala raises $10.6M in funding

Terascala, Inc., the leader in accelerating big data applications through storage I/O optimization, today announced that it has closed a $14 million Series B funding round.  Strategic partners close to the company invested approximately fifty percent of the round, with Ascent Venture Partners, an early backer of the company, contributing the remainder.  Terascala will use the funding to significantly expand research and development, marketing, customer support, to develop strategic alliances, and to fuel international expansion.

Silver Lining Systems raises $2M in funding

As reported by Scott Kirsner, Silver Lining Systems in Cambridge, MA has raised $2M in funding.  Silver Lining Systems is a startup with roots out of Columbia University.  Investors include Lightspeed Venture Partners and angel investors: Steve Papa, Rob Soni, David Murphy, & Dev Ittycheria.  The company is looking to improve the performance of cloud-based applications and services by removing data center bottlenecks.

Copiun raises $5M in funding

Copiun Inc., provider of the first and only secure mobile collaboration solution with end-to-end data governance, today announced that it has closed the final tranche of its $5 million Series A funding led by venture capital firm, Novak Biddle Venture Partners. The company met all performance milestones required to initiate the latest investment, having expanded both its customer base and revenue tenfold in 2011. In addition, Copiun established new partnerships and grew its product portfolio over the past six months. 

NuoDB raises $10M in funding

As per SEC filings, NuoDB in Cambridge, MA has raised $10M in funding.  NuoDB is a SQL database with 100% ACID semantics. Unlike existing SQL databases NuoDB delivers the key requirements for cloud-style environments, including dynamically adding or deleting nodes from a live system. NuoDB can also move live databases between datacenters, allocate unused remote machines to any database, maintain redundant disk-based copies of any database, run databases in hybrid cloud configurations and dynamically allocate databases to arbitrary groups of machines

Veracode raises $30M in funding

Veracode, Inc., the leader in application security services, today announced it has secured $30M in additional funding from Meritech Capital Partners and existing investors -- Atlas Venture, .406 Ventures and StarVest Partners. Veracode is the only company that can provide scalable application security as a service to help commercial enterprises and government agencies address the acute threat posed by hackers.

CloudLock raises $8.7M in funding

CloudLock, the software company securing enterprise cloud data, today announced it has raised $8.7 million in a Series B funding round from new investor Ascent Venture Partners and existing investor Cedar Fund.

The latest financing will be used to expand the company’s engineering divisions to keep up with rising customer demand, extend its solutions to new platforms and accelerate CloudLock’s domestic and international sales efforts. As one of the first Security-as-a-Service companies in the world, CloudLock is committed to investing in innovation around its core competency, cloud data security services. EMC acquires Pivotal Labs

EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC) today announced it has acquired San Francisco-based Pivotal Labs, a privately-held provider of agile software development services and tools. The all-cash transaction is not expected to have a material impact to EMC GAAP or non-GAAP EPS for the full 2012 fiscal year.

EMC acquires Likewise

Per an open letter from Likewise's CEO Barry Crist, Likewise has been acquired by the Isilon Storage Division of EMC.  Likewise is based in Bellevue, WA and was founded nearly seven years ago with a focus on providing an easy method for organizations to manage access and data across Windows, Linux & Unix, and Mac environments.

GreenPages acquires LogicsOne

GreenPages Technology Solutions, a national cloud and virtualization consulting and integration firm, announced today that it is has acquired Atlanta-based LogicsOne—a virtualization, storage, and cloud technology consulting and management provider. The move accelerates GreenPages’ virtualization and cloud management growth strategy and brings the company’s total number of cross-trained engineers to more than 60.

Abine acquires GoogleSharing

Abine, Inc., a leader in online privacy protection for consumers, announced its acquisition of the popular Google Sharing privacy service. Developed by renowned security expert and web engineer Moxie Marlinspike, GoogleSharing anonymizes users’ Google searches, preventing the search giant from gathering personal information about consumers’ search histories.

The changes to Google’s privacy policy, which go into effect today, will allow Google to begin connecting search activity to a user’s profile that spreads across the company’s more than 70 properties. If users are logged into any Google accounts and are using its services, the company will be able to create a profile for them filled with an alarming amount of information that includes every search they’ve run, email they’ve sent or received, video watched on YouTube, conversation had on GChat, and more.

Exinda, a global provider of WAN optimization solutions incorporating Unified Performance Management, today announced that it has secured $12M in a series B funding round. The round saw participation from existing investor OpenView Venture Partners as well as attracting new investment from Greenspring Associates. The funds will be used as working capital to support Exinda’s continued market penetration and targeted growth in the wake of a 116% increase in revenues during the course of 2011.

Akamai acquires Blaze Software

Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM) announced today that it has acquired Blaze Software Inc., a provider of frontend optimization (FEO) technology, in a cash transaction. The acquisition is expected to complement Akamai's market-leading site acceleration solutions with technology designed to optimize the speed at which a web page is rendered, regardless of end user device.

Polatis raises $2.7M in funding

Polatis, Inc. the performance leader in all-optical switch technology, today announced it has secured $2.7M (USD) in additional funding from the company's existing investors. Polatis is a privately held company backed by well known technology-focused venture capital and private equity investment firms in the USA and Europe.

Co3 Systems raises funding

Sonian acquires Webroot's Email Archiving Business

As per SEC filings, ownCloud in Lexington, MA has raised $820K towards a planned $1.25M round of funding.  Based on the popular ownCloud open source community project, ownCloud was founded in 2011 to bring greater flexibility, access and security of unstructured data to enterprises.

Akamai acquires Cotendo for $268M

Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM) and Cotendo announced today that the two companies have signed a definitive agreement for Akamai to acquire Cotendo.
