Over the past month, we've been looking at some older marketing/recruiting videos from local tech/innovation companies in Boston. HubSpot, RunKeeper, and, most recently, the Scotch O'Clock series all got the Flashback Video Friday treatment. However, today we are going to spotlight local companies that have caught our attention with recent additions to their YouTube pages.
Springpad on the Today Show
Local personal organizer service company Springpad, which recently announced a leadership change with Jacqueline Hampton stepping in as the company's CEO, was featured on a recent Today Show segment:
Not only is Springpad being featured on the much-watched morning program, but they are part of "Back-to-School" piece as a 'must have' app for helping families stay organized.
Springpad is building a pretty impressive app, adding more features all of the time. In particular, one game-changer is the app's ability to grab a recipe from the web and generate a shopping list, which is a difference maker for individuals and families who are always on the go.
Kudos to the Springpad team for making one of the best personal organizers out there, and congrats on getting love from the Today Show.
I get the feeling that we are going to be hearing a lot more about this company in the future.
Gazelle Makes Big Marketing Push with New Commercial
It's the folks over at Gazelle's favorite time of year, "New iPhone Launch Season."
Ahead of the release of the next iteration of Apple's iPhone, the marketing team at Gazelle is getting in front of this year's expected wave of phone buy-backs with a new television ad:
Why the need for the big marketing push?
It seems that Gazelle, which has been a market leader for gadget buy-back programs (especially the iPhone), is going to have some major competition as folks look to upgrade to the iPhone 5S (as the new phone is expected to be branded).
Not a bad idea to start generating some buzz ahead of the upcoming launch. The commercial itself is great and, very importantly, doesn't tie the idea of selling an old iPhone to the purchase of the most recent upgrade.
It will be interesting to see how Gazelle fares during this year's iPhone purchasing blitz. As a brand that has earned customers trust as a go-to source for getting the best deal on an iPhone exchange, this fall could be one of the most successful for Gazelle.
