This Sunday there is a great event happening in Kendall Square in Cambridge, as RaceMenu is once again helping put on its Super Bowl Sunday run to benefit cancer.
This year, there is a new little wrinkle to the Super Sunday 5 that was a 5K in previous incarnations. Super Sunday will now also hold a 5 miler (a very FAST 5 miler) and so there are more opportunities to compete, have some fun, and win some cash prizes.
The highlight of the day (other than doing some good to help cure cancer) should be the race's after-party. With beer from Lagunitas, Clown Shoes, Shipyard, Long Trail, and more, as well as copious amounts of pizza and wings, this is probably the best way to pre-game for the Seahawks and Broncos battle later in the day. Its a perfect game day plan, kick some ass running, party a bit, and then settle into an evening of Peyton Manning v. Richard Sherman and disappointing television ads.
Although pre-registration "officially" closed last night, late-comer registration will be opening up a noon today with the caveat that last minute registrees can only pick up numbers at the starting line on race day.
There are over 2,000 runner already signed up, with several members of Boston tech/innovation community leading the charge. We hear that RaceMenu has another stacked team this year, with some of Boston's most fit VC's and innovators joining the powerhouse squad for Sunday.
