Today, the New England Venture Capital Association officially announced the newest class to join its Board of Directors.

In a first for NEVCA, Mike Troiano, the CMO of Actifio, is the first entrepreneur to join the board in the organization's forty year history. As it's first entrepreneur member, Troiano (who joined as a board member in September), will be "lending his unique perspective to NEVCA’s future initiatives," said the press release announcing the new additions.

On joining the Board of Directors, Troiano said, "It's been great for me. Relationships are extremely valuable, and it's been nice to both get some perspective from the other side of the table and to be heard on the things that matter to entrepreneurs and the startup community in general."

"It's a great group of folks and a pleasure for me," he added.

Additionally, Ben Auspitz, a Partner at Fidelity Biosciences, joined the board in July, "bringing fifteen years of experience investing in pharmaceuticals and life-science ventures."

Kevin Bitterman, a Principal at Polaris Partners, will add his "ten years of healthcare experience to his work on the NEVCA board."

Bob Hower, of G20 (formerly of key investor at Advanced Technology Ventures) joined the board in September.

Maia Heymann, the Senior Managing Director of Common Angels, rounded out the new members of the board, joining in December, "to offer more than twenty years of investing experience to the organization."
